Activision and Treyarch have officially released the PS4 and PS5 ports for Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. The launch follows an initial teaser announcement delivered by the studios last month regarding the classic shooter experiences. The individual titles have debuted on the digital storefront, ending a lengthy period where the legacy shooters were completely unavailable to modern console players because PS5 and PS4 do not natively support PlayStation 3 games.

The original entries initially arrived on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in 2010 and 2012, respectively. Because modern PlayStation hardware lacks native compatibility with legacy PlayStation 3 game files, players had no official way to experience the games on current systems until this release. The new release ensures that current console users can finally download the experiences directly through the digital store interface.

Pricing and PlayStation Plus Discounts

The base editions for both classic shooters carry a standard price tag of 39.99 dollars on the global store, which translates to 2,999 rupees for players in India. However, active PlayStation Plus members can unlock a temporary 50 percent launch discount that lowers the price to 19.99 dollars, or 1,499 rupees domestically. The specific promotional pricing window remains open for eligible subscribers until August 8.

Beyond the standalone base experiences, players can choose to buy separate Season Passes to unlock the full slate of legacy downloadable content. The add-on passes carry a standard retail price of 29.99 dollars, or 2,699 rupees each. Active premium service members receive an enhanced 67 percent reduction on these passes during the introductory window, lowering the price to 9.89 dollars, or 890 rupees.

What the New Ports Include

The development of the new releases was managed by development studio Iron Galaxy, widely recognized for handling various high-profile multi-platform porting projects. Players should note that the releases function as direct ports rather than comprehensive graphical overhauls. The packages do not feature platform-specific performance enhancements, visual upgrades, or remastered textures.

Instead, the ports aim to provide a faithful recreation of the authentic legacy experiences for current generation users. Both downloads arrive fully equipped with their original single-player story campaigns, traditional online multiplayer arenas, and the cooperative survival zombies modes. Players can purchase the games immediately to access the original campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies modes immediately after purchase.

Activision has not announced whether these specific versions will receive physical disc editions in the future. For now, the legacy shooter titles remain available exclusively for digital download via the official PlayStation Store dashboard.
