The notice issued by Airtel states that it will be mandatory to recharge with a voucher of 45 rupees or more every 28 days to avail of the services.
Telecom company Bharti Airtel (Airtel) has announced the closure of a Rs 23 base recharge plan for pre-paid users in all its circles. Now, this pre-paid base plan will be increased by 95 percent to Rs 45. To keep their service running, Airtel customers will now have to spend at least Rs 45 for a minimum monthly recharge pack.
Airtel has informed customers about the new price of this plan through a public notice. This Rs 45 prepaid recharge will provide the same benefits as the Rs 23 plan.
Public information states that the new 45-rupee Airtel smart recharge will have local and STD voice calling charges of 2.5 paise per second, national video call 5 paise per second and 50 paise per MB for data. Apart from this, the SMS tariff will be Re 1 per message local, Rs 1.5 for national SMS and Rs 5 per SMS for international messages. The validity of the new 45 rupees plan will be 28 days. These are the same benefits, which were also available in the prepaid recharge plan of Rs 23.
The notice issued by the company states that it will be mandatory to recharge with a voucher of Rs 45 or more every 28 days to avail of the services. In the event of non-recharge with a voucher of Rs 45 above, all services will be suspended after the grace period.
The notice states that the grace period is up to 15 days. After the completion of the grace period, if the customer fails to recharge for Rs 45, then his services will be suspended. Telecom operators are increasing prices for various packs, which is expected to provide stability to the telecom sector.
Airtel has said, ‘If you do not recharge 45 rupees or more on validity, then Airtel has the right to suspend all your services after the grace period’.
Significantly, the telecom regulator has opened the consultation process where it will be decided what the floor tariff for voice and data will be. Due to this, the tariff can be increased once again in the coming time. Since the telecom sector is still at a loss, the COAI ie Cellular Operators Association of India believes that the tariff should be increased and TRAI has also been recommended for this.
