    JioFiber Become India’s No 1 Broadband Provider: TRAI

    JioFiber Become India's No 1 Broadband Provider: TRAI

    About 1 lakh 90 thousand new fiber customers are connected with JioFiber in November. Whereas BSNL broadband users have decreased during this period. Whereas Airtel’s subscriber number has registered an increase of about 1 lakh.

    JioFiber has once again proved its supremacy in the world of the internet. Jio was already the number one company in India in terms of wireless internet users. But now Jio has become the number one company in the broadband segment. According to TRAI’s November 2021 report, Jio has surpassed BSNL and has achieved the number one position in the wired fixed-line broadband service. JioFiber has reached the first position with about 43 lakh 40 thousand wired fixed-line broadband connections. On the other hand, BSNL has to be content with second place with about 42 lakh connections. Whereas Bharti Airtel remains in the third position with 40 lakh 80 thousand connections as before.

    Reliance JioFiber broadband subscribers rose to 4.34 million in November 2021 from 4.16 million in the previous month while the number of subscribers of BSNL dropped from 4.72 million in October 2021 to 4.2 million in November 2021. Thus, by the end of November 2021, the number of wired broadband subscribers of Reliance JioFiber was 0.14 million more than that of BSNL. Reliance JioFiber launched a wired broadband service in September 2019 while BSNL has been providing this service for more than two decades.

    Airtel, though, added the maximum number of active mobile users among the top telcos in November 2021, offsetting the impact of sharp hikes in base prepaid tariffs took around late July. Jio, though, managed to retain its market leadership on the overall active user base and active user share scores.

    JioFiber

    As of 30th November 2021, the top five wired broadband service providers were: Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (4.34 million), BSNL (4.20 million), Bharti Airtel (4.08 million), Atria Convergence Technologies (1.98 million), and Hathway Cable & Datacom (1.07 million), the report said. Reliance Jio is now the leader in both wired and wireless telecom services in India. The number of wireless subscribers of Reliance Jio is more than double of the nearest rival Bharti Airtel.

    Jio started a commercial broadband service about 2 years ago. In the 2 years since its launch, Jio Fiber service has achieved the number one position in both the wired and fixed-line segments. About 1 lakh 90 thousand new fiber customers are connected with Jio in November. Whereas BSNL broadband users have decreased during this period. Whereas Airtel’s subscriber number has registered an increase of about 1 lakh.

    According to TRAI data, the total market share of Reliance Jio in the wireless and the wired broadband segment has increased to 54.01 percent in November 2021. Airtel is second with 26.21% and Vodafone-Idea is third with 15.27%.
