    DoT Allocates Spectrum to MTNL for 5G Trail

    MTNL’s telecom partner is C-DoT, with whom MTNL will trial 5G service. Notably, Reliance Jio and Airtel have started the trial of 5G service in the country.

    The Department of Telecom (DoT) on Wednesday allotted spectrum for 5G field trials to state-owned telecom company Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL). MTNL’s telecom partner is C-DoT, with whom MTNL will trial 5G service. Information about this has been given from official sources. Let us know that Reliance Jio and Airtel have started the trial of 5G service in the country. In such a situation, the government company MTNL is also not in the mood to lag behind in this matter.

    Private telecom companies like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (VI) were allotted spectrum for the trial of 5G service in May this year. All these telecom companies will trial 5G services in different areas across the country. Spectrum has been allotted to MTNL by DoT for a 5G trial in Delhi. Government telecom company MTNL will complete the 5G trial in the Najafgarh area of ​​South West Delhi.

    According to DoT, it is estimated that 5G technology will achieve 10 times faster-downloading speed than 4G. Its spectrum efficiency will be three times more. The 5G trial is to be completed in the next 6 months. Apart from this, telecom companies have been given two months by DoT for the setup and procurement of equipment for the 5G service.
