Bharti Airtel has quietly revised its postpaid portfolio by removing the Rs 549 Individual postpaid plan from its official website and the Airtel Thanks app. Although the telecom operator has not announced the change publicly, the plan is no longer available for new customers.
With the discontinuation of the Rs 549 plan, subscribers now have two immediate choices: the Rs 449 Individual plan or the Rs 699 Family plan, which becomes the next upgrade option in Airtel’s postpaid lineup.
The rest of Airtel’s postpaid plans continue to be available without any modifications.
Rs 449 Plan Remains the Entry-Level Option
The Rs 449 Individual postpaid plan now serves as Airtel’s most affordable postpaid offering.
The plan includes:
- Unlimited 4G and 5G data
- Unlimited local, STD and national roaming voice calls
- 100 SMS per day
- Fast Lane Technology with 5G slicing
- 100GB Google One cloud storage for six months
- Airtel Xstream Play Premium for three months
- Adobe Express Premium for one year
- Free Hello Tunes
- Blue Ribbon Bag tracking service
Subscribers also receive Airtel’s security features, including fraud link blocking, spam detection and OTP protection alerts.
Rs 699 Family Plan Becomes the Next Upgrade
With the Rs 549 plan no longer available, customers looking for additional benefits will now need to opt for the Rs 699 Family plan.
The plan includes:
- One primary SIM and one free add-on SIM
- Unlimited 4G and 5G data for both users
- Unlimited voice calling
- 100 SMS per day
- Effective monthly cost of around Rs 350 per member
Apart from Airtel’s standard postpaid benefits, subscribers also receive several bundled digital services.
Entertainment and Productivity Benefits
The Rs 699 Family plan comes bundled with:
- Amazon Prime Mobile subscription for six months
- JioHotstar Mobile subscription for one year
- 100GB Google One cloud storage for six months
- Airtel Xstream Play Premium for three months
- Adobe Express Premium for one year
The plan also includes Fast Lane Technology with 5G slicing, Hello Tunes, Blue Ribbon Bag tracking, fraud link blocking, spam protection and OTP alerts.
Higher Family Plans Remain Unchanged
Apart from the removal of the Rs 549 plan, Airtel has not made any other changes to its postpaid portfolio.
Customers can still choose from the following family plans:
| Plan | Free Add-on SIMs |
|---|---|
| Rs 699 | 1 |
| Rs 999 | 2 |
| Rs 1,199 | 3 |
| Rs 1,399 | 3 |
| Rs 1,749 | 4 |
These plans continue to offer unlimited calling, high-speed data, bundled OTT subscriptions and Airtel’s premium digital services.
What the Change Means for Customers
The removal of the Rs 549 Individual plan simplifies Airtel’s postpaid lineup by narrowing the gap between its entry-level individual plan and family offerings.
Customers who previously preferred a mid-tier individual plan will now have to either remain on the Rs 449 plan or move directly to the Rs 699 Family plan, which provides an additional SIM connection and a wider range of bundled benefits.
Airtel has not provided any official explanation for discontinuing the Rs 549 plan, and it remains unclear whether the move is part of a broader revision of its postpaid strategy.
