Vodafone Idea has announced the expansion of its 5G services to Sagar, Satna and Jabalpur, strengthening its presence in Madhya Pradesh. The latest rollout takes Vi’s 5G footprint in the state to six cities, while its nationwide deployment has now reached 225 cities and towns.

The telecom operator said it is leveraging AI-powered network optimization and global technology partners to deliver improved network performance. Alongside the rollout, Vi continues to promote long-validity prepaid plans designed for customers upgrading to 5G smartphones.

Vodafone Idea has continued expanding its 5G network by launching services in Sagar, Satna and Jabalpur. The latest deployment follows the operator’s earlier rollouts in Bhopal, Indore and Gwalior, taking its total 5G footprint in Madhya Pradesh to six cities.

The company said the expansion is aimed at meeting the growing demand for faster mobile internet across commercial and residential areas. The newly launched cities are expected to benefit from improved download speeds, lower latency and a better overall mobile broadband experience on compatible 5G devices.

Vi has also indicated that additional locations in the region are ready for activation as it continues to expand its next-generation network across priority markets.

AI-Powered Network Designed for Better Performance

To support its expanding 5G infrastructure, Vodafone Idea is using equipment supplied by global telecom vendors, including Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung.

The operator is also deploying Self-Organising Networks (SON) powered by artificial intelligence. This technology automatically monitors network conditions and redistributes traffic between nearby cell sites during periods of high usage.

For customers, this means more stable connections, reduced congestion and improved network performance without requiring manual intervention from engineers.

    Long-Validity 5G Plans

As it expands network coverage, Vodafone Idea is encouraging customers to switch to long-validity prepaid plans.

One of its flagship annual recharge plans, priced at ₹3,749, offers 365 days of validity along with unlimited voice calling, daily data benefits and access to the operator’s 5G network in eligible coverage areas.

Customers with compatible 5G smartphones can seamlessly connect to the faster network without changing their existing Vi SIM, provided they are located within a live 5G coverage area.

    Why This Expansion Matters

The latest rollout is another step in Vodafone Idea’s efforts to strengthen its position in India’s competitive telecom market.

While rivals Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have already expanded 5G services across several regions, Vi has adopted a phased rollout strategy by focusing first on high-demand urban markets. This approach allows the operator to prioritize investment in areas where 5G adoption and data consumption are expected to be highest.

As network deployment continues, more customers are expected to gain access to faster mobile broadband services across additional cities.

    Who Is Affected?

    Existing Vi Customers

Subscribers in Sagar, Satna and Jabalpur with compatible 5G smartphones can access Vi’s 5G services where coverage is available.

    New Customers

The network expansion provides another option for users considering a switch to a 5G-enabled mobile service.

    Businesses

Improved mobile connectivity can benefit businesses that rely on cloud applications, video conferencing and digital services.

    Expert Analysis

Vodafone Idea’s latest expansion reflects a measured approach to 5G deployment. Instead of launching simultaneously across all circles, the operator is prioritizing cities with higher smartphone penetration and stronger demand for high-speed mobile data.

This strategy could help Vi improve network quality while managing capital expenditure more efficiently. However, maintaining momentum will be crucial as competition in India’s 5G market continues to intensify.

    What Users Should Do Next

    • Check whether Vi’s 5G service is available in your area.
    • Ensure your smartphone supports 5G connectivity.
    • Keep your device software updated for the best network performance.
    • Review Vi’s latest prepaid and postpaid plans before upgrading.
    • Existing Vi SIM cards generally support 5G, provided your plan and device are eligible.

Vodafone Idea’s expansion into Sagar, Satna and Jabalpur marks another milestone in its phased 5G rollout strategy. By extending coverage to six cities in Madhya Pradesh and expanding its nationwide footprint to 225 locations, the operator is steadily strengthening its next-generation network. As more cities come online, Vi customers can expect wider access to faster mobile internet and an improved overall connectivity experience.
