Samsung has officially launched the Samsung One UI 9.0 Android 17 beta program, giving users an early preview of its next-generation Android experience. Based on Android 17, the latest version of One UI introduces several interface improvements, enhanced customization options, AI-powered features, and productivity upgrades.
The first phase of the One UI 9 beta program launch is limited to the Samsung Galaxy S26 5G series, allowing flagship users to test new features before the stable rollout. Samsung says user feedback from the beta will help optimize performance and stability ahead of the public release.
The beta succeeds last year’s One UI 8 software and represents Samsung’s next major Galaxy flagship system upgrade.
Galaxy S26 Receives the First Software Update
The initial Samsung Galaxy S26 software update is available only for the Galaxy S26 lineup. Samsung is prioritizing its latest flagship devices to ensure the new AI-powered features and system enhancements perform efficiently on the newest hardware.
The company is expected to expand the beta program to additional flagship devices and selected Galaxy smartphones later this year before the stable release reaches more users.
Redesigned Quick Panel Offers Better Customization
One of the biggest changes in One UI 9.0 is the redesigned Quick Panel layout customization.
Samsung has separated commonly used controls into independent sliders, making everyday adjustments faster and more flexible. Users can now individually resize and access:
- Screen brightness
- Device volume
- Media playback controls
This redesigned layout improves usability and allows users to personalize the Quick Panel based on their preferences.
In addition to the visual redesign, Samsung has introduced AI-powered system optimizations that help reduce unnecessary navigation by predicting frequently used actions. The update also strengthens security by improving background threat detection and automatically blocking potentially harmful installations.
Samsung Notes Gets New Creative Tools
The latest update also enhances Samsung’s built-in productivity apps.
The Samsung Notes creative tools now include additional drawing options, improved canvas templates, and new features designed for S Pen users. These additions make note-taking, sketching, and creative work more versatile.
Samsung has also updated the Contacts app with direct integration into Creative Studio, allowing users to design personalized contact cards without leaving the application.
Beta Availability and Supported Regions
Samsung is rolling out the One UI 9.0 Android 17 beta in selected countries during the initial phase.
Eligible Galaxy S26 users in the following regions can register for the beta:
- India
- Germany
- Poland
- South Korea
- United Kingdom
- United States
Users can enroll through the official Samsung Members app, where the beta registration banner will appear for eligible devices.
Samsung has not yet announced the global release date for the stable version of One UI 9.0. More Galaxy smartphones are expected to receive the update after the beta testing phase concludes.
