    Bharti Airtel Secures Top Spot in India’s Broadband Experience, Reveals Latest Report

    Bharti Airtel dominates broadband user experience in India and outperforms competitors in OpenSignal analysis.

    In a comprehensive analysis by OpenSignal, Bharti Airtel has emerged as the top performer for broadband user experience in four out of five important categories. The study evaluated the broadband services provided by India’s three largest brands – Airtel, BSNL and Jio – to customers across all regions of the country.

    The analysis, based on data from users across India and seven major cities, highlighted Airtel’s supremacy in broadband services offered through its Xstream Fiber. BSNL, with its Bharat Fiber, and Jio, through JioFiber, were also included in the assessment.

    Key metrics examined

    The India Fixed Broadband Experience Report for January 2024 focuses on essential broadband user experience measures, including consistent quality, video experience, download speed, peak download speed and upload speed. Providers serving at least 5 percent of the user base in cities were considered for the analysis.

    National level results

    For the period between May and October 2023, Airtel showed dominance in broadband video experience with a score of 69.6 out of 100, while in broadband download speed (44.1 Mbps), broadband peak download speed (213.6 Mbps), and broadband upload speed Was also a pioneer. (33.3 Mbps). In the Broadband Consistent Quality category, Jio took the lead with a score of 71.6 percent, while Airtel stood second with 68.4 percent.

    Broadband consistent quality includes six key performance indicators: download and upload speeds, latency, jitter, packet loss, and time to first byte.

    City-specific insights

    In seven major Indian cities – Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Kolkata – Jio, Airtel, Excitel, Hathway and Alliance emerged as dominant players in various categories. Airtel demonstrated superiority in speeds in Ahmedabad and Mumbai, while Hathway excelled in Bengaluru and shared the top spot with ACT in Chennai. Excitel topped both download and upload speeds in Delhi and Hyderabad, while Jio consistently topped in quality across all cities.

    OpenSignal captured user measurements across a variety of broadband network architectures, including fiber (FTTx), xDSL, cable, fixed wireless access (FWA) via 4G and 5G, as well as satellite, offering a comprehensive and detailed user experience reported.
