Vi prepaid and postpaid customers can now experience enhanced voice calls over Wi-Fi connection when they are at home, workplace, café or any other locations with WiFi facility. The service is available for all existing Vi users, at no extra charge.
India’s leading telecom services provider, Vi has rolled out Voice Over WiFi (VoWiFi) calling service for pre-paid and post-paid customers in the Punjab circle. The service is now available for Vi customers in Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Patiala, Bhatinda, amongst others.
Vodafone Idea’s VoWiFi calling service provides seamless and extended indoor coverage on all broadband networks. Get superior call quality with no call drops at home or office while connected to WiFi. Vodafone Idea’s prepaid and postpaid customers in the Punjab circle can now undertake VoWifi calling at no extra charge.
Vo-WiFi or Voice over Wi-Fi can be used in areas where there is hardly any network. This is because Vo-WiFi uses IEEE 802.11 or WiFi, in simple words, to make calls. So, if your phone is connected to a good Wi-Fi network, when you make a call using the phone’s dialler or in other words the regular phone app, the call will go through the WiFi network.
How to Avail Vo-WiFi Calling service in VI?
- Check if the smartphone supports Wi-Fi calling (www.myvi.in/viwifi-calling)
- Have a Vi 4G Sim with active VoLTE, calling service
- Get on to a Wi-Fi network, and switch on Wi-Fi calling on the device
In case your phone is on the list of supported devices, and yet you don’t get the option for Vo-WiFi in settings, you may need to update the software in your phone. Before enabling the feature in phone settings, users may need to enable VoLTE on their SIM profiles. Once the VoLTE is enabled, users need to go to SIM Card and Networks, look for their 4G SIM and then head over to Make Calls using WiFi and turn it on.
Vi VoWifi calling service is currently available in Delhi & NCR, Gujarat, Mumbai, M&G, Rajasthan, UP, and West Bengal. Vi is in the process of extending VoWifi to more locations over the coming months.
