Developing chipsets is not new for smartphone maker companies like Xiaomi. However, the company has failed in some previous attempts. For this, the company is now going to manufacture chipsets with Oppo. In such a situation, the company will not have to face the problem of chipset shortage.
In-house chipsets can be developed by Xiaomi. Companies like Apple, Samsung, Huawei have their own chipsets. But it is not the case that chipsets of companies like Qualcomm are not used by these companies. Developing chipsets is not new for smartphone maker companies like Xiaomi. Will help to build 5G smartphone
Having said this, at times Xiaomi has had to postpone the project due to delay in chipset. According to a report by Digitimes, the two companies will manufacture chipsets with UNISOC. Under this, a Sub-6GHz 5G modem will be manufactured for the smartphone. With the creation of chipsets, companies like Oppo and Xiaomi will be able to accelerate the manufacture of 5G smartphones. China-based SMIC can help in this project, which is already manufacturing 7nm chipset. The company is capable of manufacturing mid-range chipsets.
Huawei is unable to manufacture Kirin chipset due to restrictions
A sum of $ 817.20 million has been made by UNISOC to manufacture the 5G chipset. The budget will be used by the company to expand its existing hardware lineup. Which is commonly known as Spreadtrum. But now UNISOC company will compete strongly with Qualcomm, MediaTek, and HiSilocon with the creation of new chipsets with Xiaomi and Oppo. This partnership will serve to open new avenues for UNISOC’s supply of Huawei. Let us know that due to restrictions at present, Huawei is not able to manufacture a Kirin chipset.
Apart from Chinese companies, Google also seems to be working on its own chipset, codenamed Whitechapel. The new chip is expected to power the company’s upcoming Pixel 6 smartphone. According to a report by 9To5Google, the company refers to the chip as “GS101,” with “GS” potentially being short for “Google Silicon.” This upcoming chip could also end up inside of Chromebooks if powerful enough.
The Whitechapel SoC is apparently being co-developed by Google with Samsung. The budget chipset manufacturer Unisoc is also working on budget 5G SoC’s with support for next-gen connectivity.
