Instant messaging platform WhatsApp has pushed a new 2.19.275 beta update on Google Play Store which has some traces of an upcoming feature called ‘Disappearing Messages.’ WhatsApp did not roll out any significant features in the last few months and the Facebook-owned company did not even announce the release date of much-awaited dark mode feature for both Android, iOS devices.
However, that’s changing now as WhatsApp has started its development of disappearing messages. As the name itself suggests, messages will disappear after a certain point of time set by the users, according to the report by WABetaInfo. This feature is similar to the Snapchat Messaging where the text chats will disappear automatically.
WhatsApp Disappearing Messages Feature: How Will it Work?
WhatsApp is currently working on a new feature called ‘Disappearing Messages‘ and it’s not yet available for the users right now. Also, WABetaInfo states that there’s no confirmation on when the feature will be rolled out to the public. Whenever it happens, the feature will be first available for WhatsApp Beta users, followed by the rollout to the stable build.
Talking about the Disappearing Messages feature, users will be able to mark a particular chat as ‘disappeared’ when the features rolls out to the users. If a chat is marked as disappeared, then all the messages in that chat will be automatically removed after a certain period. Also, it seems like the feature will be available only for Groups, at least that’s what the screenshots posted by WABetaInfo reveals.
Under the Group Settings menu, users will be able to see a new option called ‘Disappearing Messages,’ with different intervals. The time intervals would be five seconds and one hour. If a user chooses five seconds time interval, then the messages will be removed for every five seconds. It will work similarly if a user chooses the time interval as one hour.
The report further adds that the feature is currently under testing for Group chats, but we may expect the company to release it for individual chats as well, something which will be very useful to the users. As mentioned above, WhatsApp has just begun the development of the feature and there’s no estimated time of arrival given by WABetaInfo as well.
WhatsApp Disappearing Messages: Will it Be Useful?

Right now, there are a lot of users who delete their individual chats very frequently, but once the disappearing messages feature rolls out, users will no longer be able to delete the chat frequently.
At times, a user will be forced to delete the current chat due to some reasons, but in the older messages, there may be some important information which he/she doesn’t want to remove. The Disappearing Messages will also provide the users with an additional choice of not deleting a chat entirely, instead, they can use this feature hidden inside the settings to not store the current messages. This feature will also remove the hassle of removing unwanted messages manually and the users will not have to look back to delete the unwanted messages as well.
In other news, WhatsApp is now rolling out 2.19.275 beta version for Android users and the changelog for this update is not available. However, we’re expecting the company to fix some issues which were present in the previous beta build for Android users.
