Vivo has confirmed that the Vivo V80 will launch in India on October 6, bringing a 7,200mAh battery, 144Hz 1.5K OLED display and ZEISS-powered cameras to the company’s V-series lineup. The smartphone will also be the first V-series model in India to ship with OriginOS 7.
Vivo V80 launch date confirmed
The Vivo V80 will be launched in India on October 6 at 12 noon. Vivo has already started revealing key specifications and camera features ahead of the launch, while pricing and complete availability details are expected to be announced at the event.
The phone will be sold through Vivo’s online channels as well as major e-commerce platforms and offline retail stores after launch.
144Hz 1.5K OLED display
The Vivo V80 will feature a 6.59-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. Vivo says the panel can reach 5,000 nits of local peak brightness and supports 1.07 billion colours.
The display also supports an ultra-low brightness level of 1 nit, along with Nighttime Eye Protection and a Paper-Like Display mode. Vivo has used 1.25mm bezels around the panel to maximise the screen area.
7,200mAh battery with 90W charging
Battery capacity is another major highlight of the Vivo V80. The smartphone packs a 7,200mAh battery, which Vivo describes as the largest battery in its V-series lineup.
The phone supports 90W FlashCharge. According to Vivo, the battery can reach 50% charge in about 30 minutes when using Fast Charging Mode. The company also claims up to 14 hours of navigation and up to 39.5 hours of local video playback based on its laboratory testing.
ZEISS cameras target content creators
The Vivo V80 is being positioned heavily around photography and video creation. Its rear camera setup includes a 50MP ZEISS OIS main camera using Sony’s LYTIA 700V sensor, a 50MP ZEISS Night Telephoto camera with OIS and 3x optical zoom, and a ZEISS ultra-wide-angle camera.
The front camera is a 50MP ZEISS Group Selfie camera with autofocus and a 92-degree field of view.
For video, Vivo has confirmed 4K Cinematic Video and 4K recording at 60fps. The company is also offering cinematic video styles and AI-powered creative tools aimed at users who regularly create and share content.
OriginOS 7 comes pre-installed
The Vivo V80 will run OriginOS 7 out of the box. This makes it the first V-series smartphone in India to launch with Vivo’s newer software platform.
The phone will include features such as Snap Notes, which can turn photographs of notes or whiteboards into editable documents, along with StickIt, Wiggle Theme and Pet Pals. Vivo has also announced up to six years of security updates for the device.
Vivo V80 India price to be announced
Vivo has not yet revealed the India price of the V80. The company is expected to announce pricing, RAM and storage configurations and final availability details during the October 6 launch event.
With its large battery, high-refresh-rate OLED display and ZEISS camera system, the V80 is being positioned around battery endurance, mobile photography and video creation rather than simply focusing on specifications. The final price will determine where the phone sits in India’s mid-premium smartphone segment.
