    Tata Sky Removes 25 FTA Channels from Complimentary Pack

    Tata Sky has remapped 25 channels from its free-to-air complementary pack. These channels included free-to-air channels such as News X News 7 Tamil India News Rajasthan.

    India’s leading DTH service provider Tata Sky has remapped 25 channels from its free-to-air complimentary pack. These channels included free-to-air channels such as News X, News 7 Tamil, India News Rajasthan. Having said this, Tata Sky’s free-to-air supplementary pack is a custom curated pack, which the service provider provides to its users at no extra charge. There is no network capacity fee on the channels that come in this pack. After removing these channels from this complimentary free-to-air packs, users will now have to subscribe to them on an a-la-carte basis. After which users will now also have to pay network capacity fees for these channels.

    Tata Sky Drops 25 Channels from FTA Complimentary Pack

    Millions of Tata Sky users now in this free-to-air supplementary pack India News Gujarat, India News Haryana, India News Punjab, India News Rajasthan, Bharat Samachar, Sahara Samay, Jai Maharashtra, News 7 Tamil, Sathiyam TV, Kalaignar TV, Seithigal, Isai Aruvi, Murasu, Makkal TV, Peppers TV, Sirippoli, Polimer TV, Polimer News, News X, News World India, Sadhna TV, ABZY Movies, iLove Pen Studios, Patrika TV Rajasthan and Aaho Music channels.

    Users can subscribe to these channels on an a-la-carte basis. For which users will have to pay the network capacity fee.

    TRAI’s NTO 2.0

    In February this year, TRAI has rolled out National Tariff Order 2.0 (NTO 2.0) for DTH service providers. In this new tariff order, users will now be shown 200 free-to-air channels in a basic pack of Rs 153 (with GST) monthly. It is mandatory to select all Doordarshan channels in these free-to-air channels. Apart from this, users can select free-to-air channels of their choice on an a-la-carte basis.

    Apart from these 200 free-to-air channels, users will have to pay a separate network capacity fee (with GST) for whatever premium SD or HD channels they subscribe to. Not only this, but the maximum monthly fair of HD channels in any bouquet pack has also been reduced to Rs 12 in NTA 2.0, earlier it was Rs 19. With the introduction of NTA 2.0, users can watch twice as many free-to-air channels as last year.

    Tata Sky Complimentary Pack

    It has to be noted that Tata Sky offers an FTA Basic pack that contains 100 FTA channels including the channels that were dropped from the FTA complimentary pack. The channels part of the FTA Basic pack includes Kalaignar TV, Seithigal, Polimer TV, Polimer News, Makkal, and Peppers TV. However, the FTA Basic pack channels are considered for Network Fee calculation. Tata Sky charges Rs153.40 per month inclusive of taxes as the Network Fee for the first 200 channels and Rs 188.80 per month for more than 200 channels selected by the user.
