After the introduction of NTO 2.0, the price of both Tata Sky STBs has been listed on the company’s website for Rs 1499.
The National Tariff Order 2.0 of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has been implemented. After this, Tata Sky has increased the prices of its SD and HD set-top boxes. Last month, the company listed the price of these STBs at Rs 1,399. The SD STB was already priced at Rs 1,399. But the price of HD STB was listed at Rs 1,399 by Rs 100. But now after the introduction of NTO 2.0, the price of both these STBs has been listed on the company’s website for Rs 1,499.
Tata Sky’s SD and HD STBs Price increased
Whereas earlier the company was making SD and HD STBs available for Rs 1,399. At the same time, they can now be purchased for Rs 1,499. Their price has been increased by 100 rupees. Apart from the primary connection prices, Tata Sky has also increased the price of its multi-TV connection. Where earlier SD STB’s secondary connection was priced at Rs 1,299, it has now been reduced to Rs 1,399. At the same time, the price of HD secondary connection has been increased to Rs 1,199 which was earlier Rs 999.
Airtel Digital TV vs Tata Sky: If the price of Tata Sky STBs is compared to Airtel Digital TV, the price of HD STB of Airtel is Rs 1,300. At the same time, its SD STB is priced at Rs 1,100. Tata Sky’s SD connection costs Rs 399 more than Airtel. Apart from this, the price of HD STBs is Rs 199 more than Airtel. However, the price of the engineer may vary. In this case, Tata Sky users may be shocked by this increase.
Unlike Tata Sky, Airtel is offering its HD set-top box at a relatively lesser cost of Rs. 1,300. And, DishTV is expensive as its HD set-top box is priced at Rs. 1,599. Besides increasing the cost of the SD and HD set-top box models by Rs. 100, Tata Sky is said to have increased the multi-TV connection charges.
Going by the same, the secondary SD connection from Tata Sky has witnessed an increase of Rs. 100 taking it to Rs. 1,399. Likewise, the secondary HD connection has received Rs. 200 price hike taking it up to Rs. 1,199. The revised pricing is also listed on the official Tata Sky website.
Tata Sky Ending the Delivery of SD Set-Top-Box
The Indian DTH operator has recently announced the discontinuation of the TataSky SD Set-Top-Box that was effective, starting from February 5, 2020.
Subsequently, Tata Sky now has 4 STBs in its portfolio – Tata Sky Binge+, Tata Sky HD, Tata Sky 4K, and Tata Sky HD+. Earlier to SD connection discontinuation, both the SD connection and the HD connection were priced nearly similarly. The HD and SD boxes were being sold for Rs 1,399 in the country after the price drop that happened in January 2020. Nevertheless, as mentioned above, the HD connections will now be priced at Rs 1,499.
Those customers who have already applied for the SD connection before the announcement will still get it installed within the given period, but now there is no option to apply for a new connection. Additionally, the company has ensured that the warranty and spare parts for its existing SD connection subscribers will continue to be available in the market.
What is the new TRAI rate?
There has been a lot of change in NTO 2.0 implemented from today compared to NTO 1.0 implemented for cable TV and DTH last year. The new tariff order has been implemented by Airtel Digital TV and Tata Sky. Other service providers and cable TV providers will soon implement this. To watch 200 free to air (FTA) channels in NTO 2.0, users have to pay Rs 153 (with GST). If users select more than 200 SD channels, then they have to pay Rs 189 (with GST).
The new TRAI rate of multi tv connection
Users taking multi TV connection will now have to pay Rs 62 (with GST) every month for 200 channels for the secondary connection. On selecting more than 200 SD channels for secondary connection, Airtel users will have to pay an additional Rs 30. At the same time, Tata Sky users will have to pay Rs 75.52.
