TATA Sky is now offering up to 28% discount on New HD & SD Set-Top boxes for Diwali Offer

Tata Sky has cut the costs of its Set-Top Boxes again for the coming Diwali season. Tata Sky, which is presently the driving DTH service provider in India, is presently offering SD Set-Top Box at a cost of Rs 1,099, followed by the HD Set-Top Box at Rs 1,299. Earlier, the costs of SD and HD Set-Top Boxes were Rs 1,399 and Rs 1,499, separately, so the company has reduced the costs by up to Rs 300. TATA Sky has done this reduction as the third time in the last six months, particularly after effective of TRAI’s new tariff regime. TATA Sky has already done a tariff revision on popular channels for their DTH customers at Rs 7 less than the earlier price.

TATA Sky New Set-Top Box Price

According to Tata Sky, the company will offer up to 28% discount on Set-Top Boxes this Diwali season. TATA Sky’s SD Set-up box is now available at Rs 1,099 and HD Set-Top box is available at Rs 1,299. Earlier HD set-top boxes were available at Rs 1,899 and the third-time company has done a price revision and now it’s available less by Rs 600.

TATA Sky will now definitely be looking to increase its subscriber base even further. In the last quarter, TATA Sky become the leading DTH Operator in India and with this cost reduction moves, the company’s subscriber base will only get better. As of now, this offer is only applicable for new DTH subscriptions only and we are expecting a more existing offer for SD to HD upgrade customers.

India’s second-leading DTH provider Dish TV has not released any offer for new DTH connection till now, the prices for dishNXT set-top box is Rs 1,490 and dishNXT HD set-top box is 1,590 and recently announced DishSMRt hub is Rs 3,999 for the new subscriber and Rs 2,499 for an existing customer.

India’s third-largest DTH provider Airtel Digital TV is also selling it’s HD Set-Top box at Rs 1,300 and SD Set-Top box at Rs 1,100. Airtel Digital TV is providing a wide-range of Set-Top boxes to the customers as “Airtel XStream Box, Airtel Internet TV, Airtel Digital SD & HD Set-top boxes. Competitively, TATA Sky is offering their four set-top boxes to subscribers as – TATA Sky SD and HD, Tata Sky HD+ and TATA Sky Ultra High Definition 4K.

Also, these reductions in set-top box price is only applicable for HD & SD set-top boxes only whereas other two STBs will be available at the same old prices. TATA Sky HD+ Digital Set-top Box and Ultra HD 4K Set-top box can be purchased from Rs 9,300 and Rs 6,400 respectively.

Tata Sky is Missing in the Smart Set-Top Box Section

While TATA Sky has managed to hold the leading Direct-to-home (DTH) operator in India, Still it’s lagging behind the industry is a key feature. In 2019, the major DTH operators have announced their smart set-top boxes. Airtel Digital TV announced the “Airtel XStream” hybrid set-top box at Rs 3,999 and Dish TV shortly followed the operator and announced Dish SMRT Hub in India market last week at the same price range of Rs 3,999. As of now, TATA Sky is offering HD & SD set-top boxes to the subscribers and it’s missing in this segment.

This year, TATA Sky has also added Binge service with which a subscriber can avail OTT content through Amazon Fire TV stick, but it can’t match the expectation of Hybrid / Smart set-top box. Hybrid / Smart Set-top-box offers both satellite TV and OTT content at a same device which is an advantage and other DTH providers are offering.
