Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth has confirmed the company is indeed working on a flagship smartphone earlier this year, but it’s not coming until the end of 2019

Realme X2 Pro will be launched with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset very soon, a company official confirmed earlier today. Realme’s Chief Marketing Officer, Xu Qi Chase, on Weibo posted that the Realme X2 Pro with the flagship chipset is currently in the works and it will be launched very soon. To recall, Realme launched the Realme X2 with Snapdragon 730G chipset just a few days ago and the company is all set to bring a high-end variant of the same phone.

Notably, the Realme X2 is the same Realme XT smartphone that the company launched in India earlier this month, except for the chipset. The Realme X2 Pro may be launched as the rumoured Realme XT Pro in India as the Snapdragon 730G variant of the Realme XT is named as Realme XT 730G for the gamers.

Realme X2 Pro Will Take on the Redmi K20 Pro in India

A Realme flagship smartphone has been in the works for a while now. Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth has confirmed the company is indeed working on a flagship smartphone earlier this year, but it’s not coming until the end of 2019. The first flagship smartphone from Realme, the Realme X2 Pro, will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. And the upcoming smartphone from Realme will take on the Redmi K20 Pro.

Xiaomi recently launched Redmi K20 Pro Exclusive Edition in China with Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC, but it did not reveal when the phone will reach the Indian market. Xiaomi is already selling the cheapest phone with Snapdragon 855 SoC in India. Currently, as part of the company’s Mi Diwali sale and Flipkart Big Billion Days, the Redmi K20 Pro is available at Rs 24,999 which makes it an even more compelling option to purchase.

Other specifications of the Realme X2 Pro are unknown at the moment, but considering it as the premium variant of the Realme X2, we may see the features like 64MP quad-camera setup, AMOLED screen with in-display scanner and 4000mAh battery making their way into the Realme X2 Pro as well.

Realme XT 730G India Launch Set for December

At the Realme XT launch event earlier this month, the company has officially confirmed the Realme XT 730G with Snapdragon 730G chipset is launching in India in December. This move from Realme is not a good one, considering the Redmi K20 with Snapdragon 730 SoC is already available for purchase in the country. The Snapdragon 730G SoC is tuned to offer better gaming performance and we have seen it in the likes of Oppo Reno 2 and Samsung Galaxy A80 smartphones.

The Realme XT 730G launch is set for December and it’s the same Realme X2 smartphone which was launched in China a few days ago. The Realme X2 is just a Realme XT with Snapdragon 730G SoC and it will be the same Realme XT 730G smartphone the company has teased to launch in India later this year. And the Snapdragon 855 Plus smartphone will be launched as Realme X2 Pro in China, but in India, we may see it launching as Realme XT Pro itself.

Realme’s smartphone naming strategy is kind of messed up right now and hopefully, the company fixes it in the coming months. Xiaomi’s naming strategy used to be the same a few years ago, however, the company has streamlined most of its smartphone lineup this year.
