Oppo has started teasing the Android 17-based ColorOS 17, revealing new animations, redesigned interface elements and a glass-inspired visual design.
Oppo has started teasing its upcoming ColorOS 17 software update, giving users an early look at the new interface, animations and visual changes coming with the Android 17-based operating system.
The company is expected to showcase ColorOS 17 in greater detail later this month. The upcoming software is also expected to arrive on a new generation of Oppo smartphones, with the rumoured Find X10 series tipped to be among the first devices to receive the new version.
OnePlus and Realme have also indicated that their devices will transition to Oppo’s ColorOS platform as part of their upcoming software strategy.
Oppo ColorOS 17 Design and Animation Changes
Chen Xi, Oppo’s ColorOS Design Director, has started teasing the upcoming software’s design direction through posts shared on Chinese social media.
One of the most noticeable changes appears to be a redesigned navigation bar. Oppo is expected to position the navigation element at the top of app screens, creating a more consistent interface experience across different applications.
The company is also teasing a new animation system called Fluid Fusion, translated from Chinese. The new animation engine is designed to make transitions between screens appear smoother and more responsive.
Oppo appears to be focusing heavily on animations with ColorOS 17, suggesting that the visual experience could be one of the major changes compared with the previous generation of the software.
ColorOS 17 Could Introduce Responsive UI Effects
The upcoming software is also expected to introduce a new feedback system that changes how interface elements react to user interactions.
According to the teasers, certain app screens could stretch, squeeze or respond dynamically depending on how users interact with them. These effects are intended to make the interface feel more fluid rather than relying on conventional static transitions.
The approach could make everyday interactions such as opening applications, switching between screens and dismissing notifications appear more dynamic.
Oppo Teases Liquid Acrylic Design
Another visual change teased for ColorOS 17 is the Liquid Acrylic design language, which appears to introduce additional translucent and glass-like interface elements.
The design uses transparency and lighting effects to create more depth across different parts of the user interface. The visual approach has similarities to Apple’s recently introduced Liquid Glass design language, although Oppo is expected to implement its own interpretation across ColorOS.
The new design could be particularly noticeable in system menus, navigation elements and other parts of the interface where transparency effects can be applied.
ColorOS 17 Retains Live Activity Features
Despite the visual changes, ColorOS 17 is also expected to retain some elements introduced with the previous generation.
The latest teasers show a live activity bar on the lock screen, allowing users to keep track of ongoing activities without opening the associated application.
The software is also expected to introduce updated animations for dismissing banner notifications. While the overall interaction appears familiar, Oppo seems to have refined the animation behaviour to fit the new design language.
This suggests that ColorOS 17 will combine new visual elements with existing features rather than completely redesigning the user experience.
Oppo Find X10 Series Could Get ColorOS 17 First
The upcoming Oppo Find X10 series is expected to be among the first smartphone families to ship with ColorOS 17.
The rumoured lineup is expected to include the Oppo Find X10, Find X10 Pro and Find X10 Pro Max. Oppo has not yet confirmed the final commercial launch details of these smartphones.
The company has already started preparing developers for the next software generation through its ColorOS 17 beta programme. This allows developers and application makers to test compatibility before the software reaches a wider audience.
ColorOS 17 Will Be Based on Android 17
ColorOS 17 will be based on Google’s Android 17 operating system and is expected to incorporate the latest Android platform features alongside Oppo’s own interface changes.
Google has already introduced Android 17, although availability remains limited compared with previous Android releases. Other smartphone manufacturers are expected to begin rolling out their Android 17-based interfaces as their respective software development and testing programmes progress.
For Oppo users, ColorOS 17 will therefore combine Google’s Android 17 platform improvements with Oppo’s redesigned interface, new animation engine and additional software features.
Oppo is expected to reveal more information about ColorOS 17 later this month. Details about the supported devices, rollout schedule and stable release timeline should become clearer once the company officially announces the software update.
