The OnePlus and Oppo brands, owned at large by BBK Electronics, have been working together on some level for the last one year.

The merger of OnePlus has been announced with the smartphone brand Oppo. The company’s founder and CEO Pete Laun told in a blog post that Oppo and OnePlus will continue to launch great products together. Also, more agility in older smartphones will help in rolling out software updates. It is worth noting that about 5 months ago, the merger of Research and Development ie the R&D team of Oppo and OnePlus was announced.

Having said this, till now both Oppo and OnePlus were working under independent smartphone brands. But now OnePlus can be offered with Oppo’s branding. Both Oppo and OnePlus are working under Chinese BBK Electronics, where OnePlus was established as a premium smartphone brand. At the same time, Oppo was launched to target the offline market.

    Expected Changes

According to the company’s statement, the merger of Oppo and One Plus will not directly affect the smartphone user. However, the company believes that the merger move will prove to be the turning point for Oppo and One Plus in terms of business. CEO Pete Laun made it clear that even after the merger, both the smartphone brands will continue to operate independently and try to launch better smartphones than before.

The company believes that after the merger with OPPO, the company will have more resources and we will be able to deliver better products to the users. Also, you will be able to work faster. A glimpse of this change was seen at the launch of the One Plus 9 series in China when Oppo’s mobile operating system was used instead of Hydrogen OS when launching the new One Plus 9 series smartphones.

As mentioned by Lau, the association will result in more resources at hand for the companies to create better products. It will also bolster faster and more stable software updates for One Plus users.

The integration follows the additional responsibilities taken by Lau at Oppo last year. His role as Senior VP and Chief Product Experience Officer at Oppo led to the integration of a number of OnePlus and Oppo teams. The companies were able to better streamline their operations and “capitalize on additional shared resources” with the integration.
