The entire list of devices which will receive MIUI 11 update will be out on October 16, but here are some of the devices which will surely receive the update by the end of this year
Xiaomi is all set to launch the much-awaited Redmi Note 8 Pro in India on October 16. On the same day, the Chinese company will also introduce MIUI 11 Global ROM alongside the devices list which will get the update in the coming weeks and months. For the unaware, Xiaomi introduced MIUI 11 a few weeks ago in China alongside the Mi 9 Pro and Mi Mix Alpha flagship smartphones. Also, the company has released a full list of phones which will receive the update in China.
In fact, the Redmi Note 7 series and the Redmi K20 Pro smartphones already started receiving stable MIUI 11 updates in China, so once the global launch of MIUI 11 happens, it will be a matter of time we see the popular phones from Xiaomi receiving the update.
MIUI 11 Global ROM Launch: What to Expect?
MIUI 11 brought a lot of new features to the table compared to MIUI 10. Xiaomi did not go a major design refresh this year as well, however, the Chinese company has added several new UI elements that will offer enhanced user experience. MIUI 11 brings Dark Theme to all the Xiaomi phones; Xiaomi introduced Dark Theme with MIUI 10, but it was limited only to select Xiaomi phones. MIUI 11 comes with a new App Drawer, new sound effects, improved AI functionalities, refresh icons, smoother animations, and more features.
Xiaomi also detailed some features which it will add to MIUI 11 in the coming days. MIUI 11 will soon offer new loading animation, Child Mode which was discontinued in MIUI 10, stereo sound for games via Bluetooth, improved app permissions and more. On top of that, MIUI 11 Global ROM will also include some India-specific features, similar to MIUI 10.
As always, Xiaomi will roll out MIUI 11 updates to a plethora of devices, but the Android version will not be the latest Android 10, or some older will even run MIUI 11 based on Android Nougat and below.
MIUI 11 Global ROM: Expected Phones Which Will Receive the Update
The entire list of devices that will receive MIUI 11 update will be out on October 16, but here are some of the devices which will surely receive the update by the end of this year. Xiaomi’s latest Redmi K20 and K20 Pro smartphones will surely get the update by the end of this year and it will be based on Android 10. Notably, the Redmi K20 Pro is already running Android 10, but it’s still based on MIUI 10 only so users did not receive any new features of Android 10 or MIUI 11 likewise.
Poco India also confirmed that its Poco F1 would receive MIUI 11 updates right after the global launch. Additionally, other popular phones like the Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi Note 7S, Redmi 7, upcoming Redmi 8, Redmi Y3 may also get the update by the end of 2019. Older phones like the Redmi Note 6 Pro, Note 5 Pro, Redmi Y2 and others get the Global Stable ROM sometime at the start of 2020.
That being said, Xiaomi did not reveal its plans of rolling out the Android 10 update to its Android One smartphones. Xiaomi has a total of four Android One smartphone- the Mi A1, Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite and the Mi A3, and all of them are running Android 9 Pie with September 2019 security patches. The Mi A3 will receive the Android 10 update by the end of this year, followed by the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite devices. As for the Mi A1, we’re not sure when the company is planning to release the update, but it might happen in the second half of 2020, which means a long wait for the users.
