Apple has started rolling out iOS 27 to eligible iPhone users in India, bringing a major software update with a redesigned software experience, new Apple Intelligence capabilities, an overhauled Siri and several changes across Apple’s core apps.
The stable iOS 27 update began rolling out globally on September 14, 2026, following months of developer and public beta testing. Apple has confirmed that its next-generation Apple Intelligence features are now available, while the new Siri AI is initially rolling out in beta in English.
For iPhone users in India, the update is delivered over the air through the Software Update section in Settings. However, availability can vary by device and rollout conditions, so some users may see the update later than others.
iOS 27 Is Now Available in India
Apple has officially released iOS 27, making it available to supported iPhone models from September 14.
The update is significant because Apple is using iOS 27 to introduce a new generation of Apple Intelligence capabilities alongside a more capable Siri. Apple says Siri AI can understand personal context, work with information on the screen and perform more system-level actions across apps.
Apple is also expanding AI-powered features across apps including Photos, Safari and Image Playground. Some of these capabilities use Apple’s own foundation models, while the new Apple Intelligence architecture has also been developed in collaboration with Google’s Gemini models.

How to Download iOS 27 on an iPhone
If your iPhone is eligible, you can check for the update manually.
Step 1: Open Settings
Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Go to General
Scroll down and tap General.
Step 3: Select Software Update
Tap Software Update. Your iPhone will check Apple’s servers for the latest available software.
Step 4: Download iOS 27
If iOS 27 is available for your device, tap Download and Install.

What Is New in iOS 27?
One of the biggest changes in iOS 27 is the expansion of Apple Intelligence.

For example, Siri can find information from messages and emails, help users complete tasks and interact with apps. Apple is also adding onscreen awareness, allowing Siri to understand what is currently displayed on the iPhone.
The company is initially rolling out Siri AI in beta in English, with additional languages including French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish scheduled to follow.
Liquid Glass Gets Further Refinement
iOS 27 also continues Apple’s Liquid Glass design direction.
Rather than completely replacing the visual language introduced previously, Apple has refined the interface with additional customisation and usability improvements.
The changes are intended to make the interface feel more consistent while retaining the translucent visual elements introduced with Liquid Glass.
For users who were unhappy with some of the earlier Liquid Glass behaviour, the latest release represents Apple’s next stage of refinement following feedback and beta testing.
Apple Intelligence Is Not Available on Every iPhone
One of the most important points for users upgrading to iOS 27 is that installing the operating system does not automatically unlock every AI feature.
Apple says Apple Intelligence in iOS 27 is available on iPhone 16 models and later, along with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
