    Redmi 8A

The Redmi 7A brought some major upgrades over the Redmi 6A and the same seems to be happening with the Redmi 8A as well

Xiaomi Redmi 8A will be launching in India on September 25, the Chinese company confirmed on Twitter today. The Redmi 8A will also sport a teardrop notch display and a 5000mAh battery to take on the Realme C2 and other smartphones in the similar price range. Notably, the Redmi 7A has launched just a few weeks ago in India starting at Rs 5,999 and the arrival of Redmi 8A in such a quick time was not an expected one.

But maybe Xiaomi wants to offer a better smartphone than the Realme C2 because the latter overshadowed the former in some aspects. That said, the Redmi 8A was spotted on TENAA earlier this week and we also have the full spec-sheet of the upcoming entry-level smartphone. Xiaomi is teasing the Redmi 8A with #DumdaarRedmi8A hashtag.Xiaomi Redmi 8A

Xiaomi Redmi 8A India Launch Set for September 25: What to Expect?

The Redmi 7A brought some major upgrades over the Redmi 6A and the same seems to be happening with the Redmi 8A as well. The entry-level smartphone from Xiaomi will packs a massive 5000mAh battery and also a bigger teardrop notch display. To recall, the Redmi 7A featured a 5.45-inch 18:9 HD+ display, but going by the TENAA listing, the Redmi 8A will have a 6.2-inch HD+ screen and 19:9 aspect ratio.

Other specifications of the smartphone may remain the same. We may see the Redmi 8A retaining the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset from the Redmi 7A and the 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor on the back could remain the same as well. But on the front side, we could see an upgraded 8MP selfie shooter.

The design of the handset will slightly be changed, thanks to the taller display this time around. And lastly, the phone will have a massive 5000mAh battery, and of course, it will lack fast charging support.

Xiaomi Redmi 8A: Expected Pricing in India

The Redmi A series of phones are so popular in the entry-level market that they contribute to the majority of smartphone shipments for the company every quarter. The Xiaomi Redmi 6A launched back in September 2018 became the best-selling smartphone for three quarters in a row, even though the phone was criticized for its sub-par hardware.

Now, it will be interesting to see how Xiaomi prices the Redmi 8A in India. The Redmi 7A arrived in two variants- 2GB+16GB and 2GB+32GB, but the Redmi 8A is said to come in three variants- 2GB+16GB, 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB. If Xiaomi keeps the pricing similar to the Redmi 7A at Rs 5,999, then the Redmi 8A will become the next go-to smartphone in the segment beating the Realme C2.

The Redmi 7A was a good smartphone, but the competition offered a bigger display and dual cameras. Although the Redmi 8A will lack dual rear cameras, the single sensor will provide software-based AI Portrait mode to the customers. The launch date of the Redmi 8A is set for September 25 and it’s coming to India first, so we don’t have the exact specs of the handset.
