God of War Laufey pre-orders will open on September 29 at 10:00am local time, ahead of the game’s PlayStation 5 launch on February 16, 2027. Santa Monica Studio has also revealed the contents of the Digital Deluxe Edition and provided new details about Faye’s combat system and her Serpent Bow.
The upcoming title puts Faye, the late wife of Kratos and mother of Atreus, at the centre of a new God of War adventure set in the Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods.
God of War Laufey Pre-Order Bonus
Players who pre-order God of War Laufey before launch will receive three bonus items: the Last Wish Armor Set, the Phranque Golden Leaves cosmetic appearance and an in-game resource pack.
The bonuses are available with pre-orders, while the physical Standard Edition provides them through a download code. An internet connection and PlayStation account are required for the code-based content.
Digital Deluxe Edition Contents
Santa Monica Studio has also detailed the Digital Deluxe Edition. It includes the game along with additional cosmetic and digital content.
The Digital Deluxe Edition includes:

- Dark Alchemy Blade
- Dark Alchemy Bow Scales
- Dark Alchemy Catalyst
- In-game resource pack
- Digital mini artbook
- Official God of War Laufey digital soundtrack
The additional equipment is designed around the game’s customization system, with Faye able to modify her gear to support different playstyles.
Faye Gets a New Serpent Bow
One of the biggest combat reveals is Faye’s Serpent Bow, an enchanted weapon that can quickly shift from a dormant form into a ready-to-fire bow.
The weapon is designed for both close-range and ranged combat, allowing Faye to combine arrow attacks with her melee abilities. Its different arrow types can support rapid attacks, explosive damage and multi-target attacks.
The bow also introduces a customization system called Serpent Scales. Different Scales can change the weapon’s appearance and provide perks that alter how it performs in combat. Additional skills can be unlocked to expand the bow’s capabilities.
Two Aiming Modes
Faye’s Serpent Bow has two distinct aiming modes based on how far the player presses the aim trigger.
With a full trigger press, Faye enters a precision mode that increases her aiming control and draw distance. Players can target specific parts of an enemy to impair movement or attacks before following up with a melee strike.
The bow can also be charged to hold up to five arrows for a powerful volley, particularly useful against enemies launched into the air.
A half press activates a more mobile hip-fire mode. This lets Faye fire a cluster of arrows at close range while maintaining mobility and continuing combat combos.
Faye’s Gear Can Be Customized
Beyond the Serpent Bow, Faye’s equipment can be customized through several categories. Her armour can provide different gameplay perks and stats, while her Blade, Bow Scales and Catalysts can be adjusted to support different approaches to combat.
Catalysts are described as powerful artifacts capable of channelling the magic of the Everywhen, with different Catalysts offering different effects.
This gives the new game a combat system built around Faye’s speed, ranged attacks, melee abilities and equipment customization rather than simply replicating Kratos’ established fighting style.
God of War Laufey Release Date and Platform
God of War Laufey will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027. Sony’s official game page currently lists PS5 as the platform and confirms that the game can be played as a standalone story, although players can also experience more of its world by playing God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök.
Pre-orders begin September 29 at 10:00am local time. Sony has so far detailed the Standard and Digital Deluxe offerings, with the latter adding digital artwork, soundtrack and additional in-game equipment.
