AirPods Max feature incredible high-fidelity audio, Adaptive EQ, Active Noise Cancellation, and spatial audio
Apple, the premium smartphone manufacturer, has today launched its last product of the year. This is an over the year headphone AirPods Max. It costs Rs 59,900. The Apple AirPods Max headphones will come in five color options Space Gray, Silver, Sky Blue, Green, and Pink. Pre-booking of AirPods Max has started in 25 countries including the US from today. However, customer phones can be purchased from AirPods Max from December 15.
Apple AirPods Max Specifications
Apple’s first over-ear headphones are claimed to deliver high-fidelity audio. The machined aluminium earcups are said to be attached to a unique suspension system that flexes with the stainless-steel headband, which is covered with a breathable knit mesh canopy, to fit a wide range of head sizes. The earcups of the AirPods Max have an “acoustically optimised” net that surrounds the magnetically attached cushions. Apple says that the combination of material provides a superior passive seal for a better noise-canceling experience.
The AirPods Max are fitted with custom 40mm dynamic drivers from Apple and its proprietary H1 chip. The headphones have a total of nine microphones, eight of which also assist the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) function to block noise from all directions. It has a single-button press Transparency mode similar to what Apple’s true wireless stereo (TWS) earphones, the AirPods Pro, also feature. The wireless headphones connect using Bluetooth v5.
The AirPods Max have spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, which essentially uses accelerometer and gyroscope sensors to track head movement and optimise sound in real-time. They have optical and position sensors to detect when the pair is removed from ears — or when one earcup is lifted — to pause the sound. And also adaptive EQ to optimise sound for different genres of music.
Apart from a dedicated noise control button to switch between ANC and Transparency mode, the AirPods Max has a digital crown on top of the right earcup to play/ pause/ skip tracks, activate Siri, and, most importantly, control volume with precision. The wireless headphones claim to deliver up to 20 hours of listening time on a single charge with ANC enabled. According to Apple, five minutes of charge time provides around an hour and a half of listening time.

Automatic switching allows users to seamlessly move sound between iPhone, iPad, and Mac. When playing music on Mac, users can easily take a call on iPhone and AirPods Max will automatically switch over. Audio Sharing makes it possible to easily share an audio stream between two sets of AirPods on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV 4K.
Simply bring AirPods Max near the device and connect with a single tap. Siri capabilities include the ability to play music, make phone calls, control the volume, get directions, and more. Siri can also read incoming messages as they arrive with Announce Messages with Siri.

AirPods Max are available to order starting today for $549 (US) from apple.com and in the Apple Store app in the US and more than 25 other countries and regions. AirPods Max will begin shipping on Tuesday, December 15. AirPods Max require Apple devices running iOS 14.3 or later, iPadOS 14.3 or later, macOS Big Sur 11.1 or later, watchOS 7.2 or later, or tvOS 14.3 or later. AirPods start at $159 (US) and AirPods Pro are available for $249 (US).
