Bharti Airtel has significantly strengthened its telecom infrastructure across Odisha, reaffirming that Airtel expands Odisha 5G network capacity to efficiently manage the surge in mobile traffic expected during the annual Puri Rath Yatra. The company completed a large-scale deployment of high-speed network infrastructure ahead of the festival to ensure uninterrupted connectivity for millions of pilgrims, residents, and businesses.

The expansion includes the deployment of more than 1,500 new network sites across Odisha over the past 12 months. These additions enhance network capacity, reduce congestion, and improve service reliability during one of India’s largest religious gatherings, where millions of devotees converge on Puri.

Unlike temporary festival arrangements, these newly deployed sites are permanent infrastructure investments that will continue serving customers across the state long after the Rath Yatra concludes.

Transit Corridor Enhancements to Reduce Network Congestion

This investment represents one of the largest regional mobile telecom upgrades undertaken in Odisha in recent years. The deployment strengthens telecom network congestion management by increasing network capacity across busy pilgrimage routes and urban centers. Airtel has also improved high-speed travel corridor connectivity along highways, railway stations, and major transport hubs leading to Puri. Alongside the infrastructure rollout, unlimited data prepaid plans starting at ₹399 provide customers with uninterrupted high-speed internet during periods of peak demand.

As part of the Puri Rath Yatra infrastructure boost, Airtel extended its network upgrades beyond the temple town itself. Engineering teams enhanced connectivity along key transportation corridors, including:

    • National highways leading to Puri
    • Major railway routes
    • Railway stations
    • Inter-state bus terminals
    • High-footfall transit hubs

Strengthening these travel corridors ensures that devotees experience reliable connectivity throughout their journey, not just after reaching the festival destination.

The enhanced infrastructure is expected to minimize call drops, improve mobile internet speeds, and support high-demand digital activities such as online payments, navigation, live video streaming, and communication during peak travel periods.

Statewide Coverage Supports Urban and Rural Connectivity

The network densification initiative spans all 30 districts of Odisha, creating a permanent improvement in Airtel’s regional infrastructure. The expanded footprint benefits:

    • Urban business centers
    • Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns
    • Rural communities
    • Agricultural regions
    • Tourism and pilgrimage routes

By increasing network density across diverse locations, Airtel aims to deliver more consistent 5G performance and prepare its infrastructure for future growth in mobile data consumption.

Unlimited Prepaid Plans Complement Network Expansion

Alongside the infrastructure rollout, Airtel has introduced unlimited prepaid data plans designed to accommodate higher seasonal usage. The entry-level plan begins at ₹399 and offers unrestricted high-speed data without daily usage caps, allowing customers to stream videos, use navigation services, upload content, and stay connected without worrying about daily limits.

The company expects these plans to encourage greater adoption of premium data services while showcasing the improved network performance delivered through its latest infrastructure investments.

    Long-Term Network Investment Strategy

Airtel’s Odisha expansion reflects its broader strategy of investing in network densification rather than relying solely on customer acquisition. By adding more high-capacity sites across the region, the operator aims to maintain superior service quality during periods of exceptionally high demand while supporting long-term digital growth across the state.

With the latest deployment complete, Odisha’s enhanced telecom infrastructure is positioned to serve both the immediate connectivity needs of the Puri Rath Yatra and the state’s expanding digital ecosystem throughout the year.
