Airtel has announced the full availability of its 5G service, Airtel 5G Plus, in every district of Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Odisha, Karnataka, and Gujarat. This achievement represents a significant milestone in Airtel’s strategic 5G rollout, bringing the revolutionary capabilities of 5G to a broader population.
Bharti Airtel on Thursday made an important announcement, stating that its 5G service, ‘Airtel 5G Plus’ has achieved full coverage in all districts of Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Odisha, Karnataka, Gujarat and Union Territory of Dadra. Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu. This feat was achieved within just 12 months of the launch of the service, marking a significant milestone in Airtel’s strategic 5G rollout.
Airtel 5G in Tamil Nadu
Specifically addressing Tamil Nadu, Airtel emphasized that its 5G coverage is the widest, fastest, and most reliable in the state, covering all 38 districts. According to Airtel, within the first year of the launch of Airtel 5G Plus, the state has garnered more than 4.2 million unique 5G customers. The network rollout extends to various locations, from the beautiful hill station of Ooty to the historic city of Madurai, the port city of Thoothukudi, and the southernmost tip of Kanyakumari. Notably, Airtel has also connected major destinations like M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and UNESCO World Heritage Site Mahabalipuram with the 5G digital superhighway.
Airtel 5G in Punjab
In Punjab, Airtel takes pride in being the first telco to introduce 5G, and now extends its 5G network to all 24 districts. Within a year of launching Airtel 5G Plus, it has amassed over 2 million unique 5G customers in the state. Airtel’s 5G reach extends to iconic locations like Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh, Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, Wagah Border, and Qila Mubarak in Bathinda. Additionally, Airtel has expanded its digital footprint to include Kila Raipur village, which is known for its Rural Olympics.
Airtel 5G in Odisha
Airtel has also achieved the first deployment of 5G technology in Odisha, covering all 30 districts of the state. The rollout includes tourist destinations like Daringbadi, Konda Kambera, the holy cities of Konark and Bhubaneswar, and beach locations like Gopalpur and Puri. Notable sites like Chilka Lake and the heritage village of Raghurajpur are now connected to the 5G digital superhighway in Odisha.
Airtel 5G in Karnataka
In Karnataka circle, Airtel was the first to deploy 5G technology and garnered over 5.1 million unique 5G customers within a year. The network spans all 31 districts of Karnataka, covering diverse locations from the Western Ghats of Kodagu to the historic city of Mysuru, the tech hub of Bengaluru, and the beaches of Mangalore. Airtel has also connected UNESCO World Heritage Site Hampi and Karnataka’s highest peak Mullayanagiri through the Digital Superhighway.
Airtel 5g in Gujarat
For Gujarat, Airtel’s 5G coverage extends to all 33 districts and the union territory of Dadra, Nagar Haveli, Daman, and Diu. Within a year of the Airtel 5G Plus launch, it has amassed over 2.2 million unique 5G customers in the state. The coverage extends to various locations, including the Rann of Kutch, the coastal beauty of Dwarka, the Statue of Unity, and the Gandhi Ashram at Sabarmati. Additionally, prominent landmarks like the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the UNESCO World Heritage Site Rani Ki Vav in Patan are now part of the 5G Digital Superhighway.
Bharti Airtel accelerates 5G rollout across India
As of September, Airtel reported a user base of over 50 million unique 5G customers on its network, covering all districts and union territories in India. During IMC 2023, Sunil Bharti Mittal announced that Airtel has expanded 5G services to 5,000 towns and 20,000 villages with plans to cover the entire country by March 2024.
