Bharti Airtel continues to offer 2G services in Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh to serve the connectivity needs of feature phone customers.
In line with its plan to phase out 3G technology, Bharti Airtel (“Airtel”) today announced the shutdown of the 3G network in Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh. Airtel mobile broadband services shall be now available on a high-speed 4G network. The company will continue to provide 2G services in Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh to serve the connectivity needs of customers on feature phones.
In Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh, the company has re-farmed 2100 Mhz band, which was being used for 3G to further strengthen its 4G network. The company has now deployed state-of-the-art L2100 technology to complement its existing 4G services.
Re-farming of 3G spectrum for 4G to further boost the network capacity and wider availability of Airtel 4G thus significantly improve coverage inside buildings – homes, offices, malls and outdoors especially during intracity/ intercity transit for 4G smartphone customers.

The smartphone ecosystem in India is currently going through a phase where adoption of 4G only devices is overwhelming and we are completely aligned with the changing environment and convenience of our customers.
In Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh, Airtel uses a solid spectrum bank – 2300 Mhz (TD LTE), 2100 Mhz (LTE 2100), and 1800 Mhz (FD LTE) to offer world-class 4G services to customers.
Having said that, the company is shutting down its 3G services across India with an aim to strengthen its 4G network in the country and has initiated this strategy from Kolkata on June this year where the circle is no longer have coverage in the 3G network and later it has been extended for Haryana, Punjab, Kerala and recently with Maharashtra (Excluding Mumbai) and Goa.
