Xiaomi claims that the NFC Mi Band 5 can be used for 14 days in a single charge. The non-NFC Mi Band 5 will come with a 20-day battery life.

Xiaomi has finally launched its next-generation fitness band Mi Band 5 in China. Its non-NFC version costs around Rs 2000, while the band with the NFC version will cost around Rs 2,500. Mi Band 5 has been launched in Black, Green, Yellow color options. It will go on sale from June 18, 2020. The company claims that Mi Band 5 will get some cool new features with a large display. Let us know that Mi Band 4 was launched a year ago on June 11 itself. After launching in China, it is being speculated that the company may soon introduce it in India.

    Specifications

The Mi Band 5 will get a larger 1.2-inch color AMOLED display, which will be about 20 percent larger than the Mi Band 4. Band 5 is made from materials made of polycarbonate. Its wrist band is made of silicon. This band can be used on both Android and iPhone. Mi Band 5 has 512KB RAM and 16MB storage options. For connectivity, Bluetooth v5 BlE has been given in Band 5. At the same time, 125mAh battery is being offered for battery backup. The company claims that the NFC Band can be used for 14 days in a single charge. The non-NFC Band will come with 20-day battery life. Not only this, but it will also get 5ATM water resistance with NFC. Means the smart Band 5 will not spoil if you are in 50 meters deep water for 30 minutes.

Talking about dimensions, the smart band will be 47.2mm in length, 18.5mm in width, and 12.4mm in thickness, while the standard Mi Band 5 will weigh 11.9 grams. The NFC Band5 will weigh 12.1 grams. The Band 5 will get 11 sports modes like Yoga, Rowing, Eclipse, Running, Jump, Roping, Cycling, which will come with upgraded professional sensors. Also, it has a useful sleeping tracking system, with the help of which users will be able to improve their sleeping hours and patterns. Not limited to that, Band 5 will get 100 new animated watch faces. There will be a built-in microphone, new magic charging, remote camera control.

Xiaomi is launching some new dual-toned straps along with the band. These new bands with the black part wrapping the fitness tracker might set off the illusion that the steps are connected to the two far ends of the body instead of being an entire removable/replaceable strap.

    Mi Band 5 Sleep Mode

The Band 5 also gets an improved processor for faster and more accurate tracking. Besides 11 fitness tracking modes, female users can use the fitness band to tracking their menstrual cycles. The fitness band will also offer a PAI (Personal Activity Intelligence) score to help you contextualize how physical activities contribute to your fitness. For more efficient sleep tracking, the Band 5 will now also report REM sleep beside deep and light sleep.

Further, the tracker also comes with an inbuilt barometer to gauge the atmospheric pressure and can also be used as a remote shutter button for taking images on the phone from a distance. Similar to the older versions of Mi Band, the fitness band will also support NFC payments in China.
