Samsung has launched its latest flagship tablet lineup with the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+, bringing MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9500 chipset, 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays and expanded Galaxy AI features. Both models also come with an S Pen in the box and run Android 17 with One UI 9.
The new tablets are positioned as premium productivity and creative devices, with Samsung focusing on multitasking, AI-assisted workflows and long-term software support. The Galaxy Tab S12 series will go on sale in select markets from October 7.
Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ Specifications
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra features a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 2,960 x 1,848-pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy Tab S12+ gets a slightly smaller 12.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 2,800 x 1,752-pixel resolution and the same 120Hz refresh rate.
Both displays support up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness, with Samsung also using its display technology to improve visibility under different lighting conditions.
The major hardware upgrade is the 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor. Samsung says the new chipset delivers substantial improvements over the previous-generation hardware, while its redesigned cooling system is intended to maintain performance during demanding workloads.
The Tab S12 Ultra comes with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, while the Tab S12+ is available with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Both tablets support microSD cards up to 2TB.
Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra Gets a Larger Battery
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra packs an 11,600mAh battery, while the Galaxy Tab S12+ has a 10,600mAh battery. Both models support 45W wired charging.
Samsung rates video playback at up to 23 hours on the Tab S12 Ultra and up to 21 hours on the Tab S12+. The tablets also feature quad speakers with four-channel spatial audio.
Despite the large batteries and displays, Samsung has kept both tablets relatively thin. The Tab S12 Ultra measures 5.1mm thick and weighs 692 grams for the Wi-Fi model, while the Tab S12+ measures 5.3mm and weighs 553 grams in its Wi-Fi configuration. Both have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Galaxy AI and Android 17
The Galaxy Tab S12 series runs Android 17 with Samsung’s One UI 9 interface. Samsung has expanded its Galaxy AI capabilities with features designed around productivity, multitasking and creative workflows.
The tablets support a three-way split-screen layout, allowing users to work across multiple applications simultaneously. Samsung has also integrated AI-assisted functions that can handle multi-step tasks across compatible applications.
The S Pen is included with both models, allowing users to take notes, edit documents and work on creative projects directly on the large AMOLED displays.
Samsung is also promising long-term software support. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ are eligible for up to seven generations of OS upgrades and security updates. Samsung India lists the Tab S12+ security update period through September 2033.
Adobe Photoshop Comes to Samsung Galaxy Tablets
One of the notable additions to the new series is Adobe Photoshop support. Samsung is positioning the Galaxy Tab S12 lineup as a more capable platform for professional creative work, with Photoshop available alongside S Pen support.
This gives users a larger canvas for photo editing and design work while allowing them to use the S Pen for more precise editing. Samsung is also promoting the tablets for professional-grade apps and productivity workflows.
Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra vs Tab S12+
The two tablets share the same Dimensity 9500 processor, 120Hz AMOLED technology, 45W charging, IP68 protection and S Pen support. The main differences are their display sizes, battery capacities and available configurations.
The Tab S12 Ultra offers the larger 14.6-inch display, an 11,600mAh battery, Wi-Fi 7 and configurations going up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. The Tab S12+ is thinner and lighter, with a 12.6-inch display, 10,600mAh battery and up to 12GB RAM with 512GB storage.
Samsung has not launched a standard Galaxy Tab S12 model alongside the Ultra and Plus variants this generation. The company is instead concentrating the new series on these two premium models.
Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ Price and Availability
The Galaxy Tab S12+ starts at $1,199 in the US, while the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra starts at $1,399. Both models are offered in Gray and Silver, with sales beginning October 7 in major markets, although availability can vary by region.
Samsung has not yet announced Indian pricing for the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+. However, Samsung India has already listed the Galaxy Tab S12+ 5G, with its product page showing a September 30, 2026 launch date.
The Indian pricing and sale details will therefore be important, particularly because the previous Galaxy Tab S11 series entered the market at significantly lower starting prices. Samsung is yet to confirm the final India price and availability schedule for the new models.
With the Dimensity 9500, large 120Hz AMOLED displays, bundled S Pen, Galaxy AI features and extended software support, the Galaxy Tab S12 series is Samsung’s latest attempt to make its premium Android tablets more suitable for demanding productivity and creative workloads.
