Reliance Jio has launched a limited-period 10th Anniversary Offer that bundles an eligible JioBharat 4G feature phone with six recharge cycles at no additional cost. Priced at Rs 1,499, the offer includes 14GB of data and unlimited HD voice calling every 28 days, with Jio positioning it as a way to make the move from 2G to 4G more affordable.
JioBharat 4G offer price and benefits
Under the anniversary offer, eligible JioBharat 4G phones are available for Rs 1,499 with six complimentary recharge cycles. Each cycle is valid for 28 days and includes 14GB of data and unlimited HD voice calling. That works out to 84GB of high-speed data and six cycles of voice service during the benefit period.
The 14GB allocation works out to 0.5GB, or 512MB, of high-speed data per day when spread across the 28-day cycle. The offer therefore should not be described as unlimited data; the voice calling is unlimited, while the data allowance is 14GB per cycle.
Jio says the offer is aimed particularly at feature-phone users who are still on 2G and want to move to a 4G device without taking on the cost of the handset and immediate recharge separately.
How Jio arrives at the Rs 299 effective price
Jio is effectively valuing the included connectivity at around Rs 1,200 over six months, based on its estimate that a typical 2G user spends around Rs 199 per month to remain connected.
Subtracting that estimated Rs 1,200 connectivity value from the Rs 1,499 purchase price gives an effective handset cost of Rs 299. This is Jio’s promotional calculation rather than a separate selling price for the phone.
For consumers, the more useful way to view the deal is that the upfront Rs 1,499 payment covers both an eligible JioBharat device and six 28-day recharge cycles. The actual value depends on whether the user would otherwise have purchased comparable Jio recharge benefits.
Which JioBharat phones are eligible?
Jio has not yet published a complete list of JioBharat models covered by the anniversary offer. Gadgets 360 notes that the specifications mentioned for the eligible devices include a 2.4-inch display, 2,000mAh battery and 4G connectivity, which match devices such as the JioBharat B1 and B2. However, these should not be treated as a confirmed complete eligibility list until Jio identifies the models.
Jio’s official terms define an eligible device more broadly as a device approved by the company and purchased and activated on the Jio network for the first time during the offer period.
There is an important SIM and activation condition
The free recharge benefits are tied to the eligible device and mobile connection.
Jio’s terms require the customer to purchase and activate an eligible device during the offer period. The benefit is linked to the unique IMEI and mobile-number combination, and the Jio SIM must remain in the primary SIM slot during the benefit period. Existing Jio users, new Jio users and customers porting into Jio can qualify subject to the stated conditions.
The offer period currently runs from September 15 through October 20, 2026, unless Jio extends or terminates it earlier.
JioBharat also brings digital services to feature phones
The JioBharat platform is designed to offer more than basic voice calling.
Supported devices provide access to JioTV and other entertainment services, while JioPay enables UPI payments. Jio also lists payment alerts and Sound Box functionality among the platform’s capabilities.
The phones also support Jio Safety Shield features, including safe-calling capabilities and location-monitoring tools intended to provide additional family connectivity and safety functions.
These features give the JioBharat platform a broader role than a conventional keypad phone, particularly for users who want basic digital payments, entertainment and connectivity without moving to a full smartphone.
A push towards 4G feature-phone adoption
Jio’s anniversary offer arrives as India’s operators continue to transition users away from legacy 2G networks. ETTelecom cited industry estimates of more than 200 million basic 2G keypad-phone users in India and said Jio has previously targeted the conversion of 2G users through the JioBharat platform.
The Rs 1,499 bundle lowers the initial financial barrier because customers do not have to buy a 4G feature phone and immediately budget separately for several months of connectivity.
For elderly users, secondary connections and households that need a simple voice-and-data handset, the combination of a keypad phone and bundled service may also make the upgrade easier. However, whether the offer results in sustained migration from 2G will depend on device availability, recharge continuity after the six cycles and the network experience in individual locations.
The fine print matters more than the Rs 299 headline
The Rs 299 effective price is attractive as a promotional calculation, but buyers should look at the complete structure before purchasing. The six benefits are 28-day recharge cycles rather than six 30-day calendar months, eligibility depends on the device and SIM/IMEI pairing, and the offer is available only for a limited period.
For someone who would already spend around Rs 199 per month on comparable connectivity, the bundle can substantially reduce the incremental cost of moving to a JioBharat 4G phone. For users who would not otherwise purchase those recharge benefits, the Rs 1,499 upfront price remains the more relevant figure.
