    Reliance Jio Subscriber Base Reduced by 93 Lakh in Jan’22: TRAI

    There has been a decline in the number of wireless mobile users of Reliance Jio in January 2022. Whereas according to the report of TRAI, an increase has been registered in the number of users of Bharti Airtel.

    According to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) the number of users using telecom service has come down to 1169 million in January 2022. Whereas in December 2021 this figure was 117.8 crores. According to the data of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India i.e. TRAI, there has been a decline in the number of users of Reliance Jio by 93.22 lakh in January 2022 as compared to December 2021. This is the second consecutive month that the number of Jio has registered a decline.

    Subscribase Base Declined Except Bharti Airtel: TRAI

    The number of wireless subscribers of Vodafone Idea (Vi) declined by 3.89 lakh in January 2022. While the number of BSNL subscribers has decreased by 3.77 lakh. In the same number of MTNL, a decrease of 331 users has been registered. According to the TRAI report, there has been a decline of about 0.76 percent in the number of telecom subscribers in India on a monthly basis. The number of wireless subscribers declined by 0.81 percent to 114.52 million. Which was 115.46 crores in December.

    Barring Mumbai, Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir, the number of Reliance Jio subscribers has declined in all telecom circles across the country. On the other hand, the number of users of Bharti Airtel has increased by 7.1 lakh in January. Having said this, the share of mobile wireless subscribers in India’s total telecom subscriber base is around 98 percent.

    TRAI has mentioned, the number of telephone subscribers in India decreased from 1,178.41 million at the end of December-21 to 1,169.46 million at the end of January-22, thereby showing a monthly decline rate of 0.76%. Urban telephone subscription decreased from 655.20 million at the end of December-21 to 649.38 million at the end of January-22 and the rural subscription also decreased from 523.21 million to 520.08 million during the same period. The monthly decline rates of urban and rural telephone subscription were 0.89% and 0.60% respectively during the month of January-22.

    Jio Telecom Subscriber Base Jan'22 TRAI

    The overall Tele-density in India decreased from 85.91% at the end of December-21 to 85.19% at the end of January-22. The Urban Tele-density decreased from 137.26% at the end of December-21 to 135.83% at the end of January-22 and Rural Tele-density also decreased from 58.50% to 58.13% during the same period. The share of urban and rural subscribers in total number of telephone subscribers at the end of January-22 was 55.53% and 44.47% respectively.
