Top DTH service providers like Tata Sky and Dish TV India are now offering an additional 60 days or two months of extra service to subscribers

In a recent report, after TRAI new tariff regime, more than 20 million subscribers have opted out of the DTH platform (Dish TV, D2H & TATA SKY) in favor of watching content on OTT apps. It has also changed the entire TV viewing scenario in India. Right after the new order came into effect, DTH operators removed all subscriptions packs which they used to offer at discounted prices. However, to retain the customer base, the few operators came up with long-term recharge options which even ship with extra service at no additional cost. On comparison of leading DTH Operator’s official website, merged DTH operator D2h and Dish TV are leading the pack by rolling out back to back recharge offers to the customers. In the same process, both the operators have a new offer under which customers can avail up to 60 days of extra service on recharging the same channel for ten months straight. Tata Sky is also part of this list because the company is also providing one month of free service to the customers under a new offer.

Long Term Plans Clash After TRAI National Tariff Order

Since TRAI tariff regime went into effect, it did not contain any regulation about the long-term packs and how they were to be changed when the broadcasting and DTH industry was changing. The new national tariff order changed how the channels were priced, how the bills were issued to subscribers, and it brought very subjective changes in the industry. In such a case, the previously introduced long-term plans could not stay. Such a scenario would have also affected the DTH service providers and worried about their pockets too. Consequently, it was decided that all the subscribers of the previous long-term plans are moved to the new TRAI tariff regime based channel packs and this opened up doors for new long-term offers.

    Tata Sky Cashback Offer

Tata Sky is offering an interesting frame of cashback offer (Savings & Flexibility Like Never Before!) to its subscribers which is really a long term offer in a mask. Subscriber recharging for 12 months upfront, they will be able to receive a cashback from the company in the same account equating to the subscription value of the monthly subscription. It means Subscriber will get an additional month’s subscription on Annual recharge. Earlier to the tariff regime, under the Flexi Annual plan, an additional monthly subscription used to be credited at the end of the 12 months, and now the subscription will be extended in 48 hours from the recharge.

Dish TV and D2h Long-Term Recharge Offers

The merged DTH operator, Dish TV, and D2h are now running a similar offer (Recharge Ek Baar, Entertainment Lagataar) for their subscribers and offering up to 60 days or two months of service for free. Earlier to the tariff regime, if a subscriber was recharging for 44 months, both the service provider was adding a massive 150 days extra service. Dish TV India offering three long-term recharge options. If a subscriber recharges for three months upfront, then the service provider will add 14 days of extra service for free followed by 6 months or 12 months subscription has an additional free subscription by 30 and 60 days respectively. These offers from Dish TV and D2h are valid until November 15, 2019.

Alongside, Dish TV & D2H nowadays are also offering Android-based set-top box options to the customers for offering various over-the-top (OTT) apps such as Amazon Prime Video, ALTBalaji, Voot, and more.
