According to an online report, Reliance plans to integrate JioMart in WhatsApp within 6 months. The move will keep users from leaving WhatsApp, as they can shop and pay on one platform.
Mukesh Ambani’s company Reliance Retail Limited is preparing to connect its e-commerce app JioMart with instant messaging app Whatsapp. According to the report, the company plans that the work will be completed within the coming 6 months. Under this, users will get the facility to order goods during chatting on Whatsapp. The special thing is that users will not need to exit the app to order goods. This planning of the company can compete on shopping platforms like Amazon and Flipkart.
Strategy of Reliance
It has been informed in the report that JioMart is now preparing to reach every corner of the country, for this, the company will work with Whatsapp. Rather Reliance and Whatsapp have also started working on this planning. It has also been said that this planning will start within the next 6 months. After which users will be able to order goods from there without leaving a chat on Whatsapp.
E-commerce platform will face competition
After this initiative of Reliance, JioMart will reach every nook and corner of the country. With this, the popular online shopping platform Amazon and Flipkart can compete and reduce their dominance. Reliance will have access to around 400 crore users of Whatsapp by preparing to work with Reliance’s Whatsapp. In such a situation, it is being argued that when users get the option of shopping in chatting, then their attitude towards other sites will be reduced.
Reliance launched JioMart in 200 cities and towns simultaneously in May 2020 last year. After which the company also signed a deal with Whatsapp in April 2020. In April, Facebook bought a 9.9 per cent stake in Reliance’s Jio for 5.7 billion dollars. At the same time, the company is preparing to add it to WhatsApp so that more people can connect with it and will be able to order goods without any hassle during chatting.
During the deal between Reliance and Facebook, Mukesh Ambani had said. “The synergy between Jio and Facebook will help realize Digital India Mission with its two ambitious goals — Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business for every single category of Indian people without exception. In the post-Corona era, I am confident of India’s economic recovery and resurgence in the shortest period of time. The partnership will surely make an important contribution to this transformation.”
People can place their orders on JioMart by adding JioMart’s WhatsApp number 88500 08000 on their phones, after which JioMart will send a link to the user’s Whatsapp chat window which is valid for 30 minutes.
WhatsApp had announced its new terms of service that would tweak how the platform processes user data when a user interacts with a business account. The most popular messaging app had noted that if users failed to comply with the new terms by February 8, 2021, they would lose their account. WhatsApp faced severe backlash after which it has delayed the date of agreement for the new policy.
“This update does not expand our ability to share data with Facebook. While not everyone shops with a business on WhatsApp today, we think that more people will choose to do so in the future and it’s important people are aware of these services,” WhatsApp in a statement said.
