Oppo is the official partner for the PUBG Mobile India Tour 2019 and the regional finals will be played on Oppo A9 2020 smartphone

Oppo A9 2020 has received a small price cut just a month after its official launch in India. The Chinese brand, Oppo, has said to be reduced the price of its mid-range Oppo A9 2020 by Rs 1,000 and it’s now available for purchase at Rs 15,990. The launch price of the Oppo A9 2020 was Rs 16,990, but it was way too much of asking considering the specs of the handset. It has been just a month since the launch of Oppo A9 2020 and it’s the official partner smartphone for the PUBG Mobile India Tour 2019. The A9 2020 was launched in two variants with up to 8GB of RAM and only one of them received a price cut today.

Oppo A9 2020: What it Offers for Rs 15,990?

The price cut on Oppo A9 2020 was first reported by Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom on Twitter, stating the new price is already effective. Additionally, we have verified e-commerce websites and the new prices are already effective. The 4GB RAM variant of the Oppo A9 2020 is now available at Rs 15,990, down from the launch price of Rs 16,990. The 8GB+128GB variant of the phone can be purchased for Rs 19,990- the same launch price.

For the asking price, the Oppo A9 2020 offers a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a teardrop notch and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood, it has the latest Snapdragon 665 chipset which we saw on the likes of Realme 5 and the Xiaomi Mi A3. The phone comes in two variants- 4GB+64GB and 8GB+128GB, along with a microSD card for storage expansion up to 128GB.

Other specs of the Oppo A9 2020 include 5000mAh battery, USB Type-C port, and Dolby Atmos support. The phone boots Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS out of the box and has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The USP of the Oppo A9 2020 is the quad-camera setup. Similar to the Realme 5 Pro, the Oppo A9 2020 offers a 48MP primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP monochrome shooter. The Realme 5 Pro features a 2MP super macro sensor instead of the monochrome shooter present on the Oppo A9 2020.

PUBG Mobile India Tour Finals to Be Held on October 19-20

As noted, Oppo is the official partner for the PUBG Mobile India Tour 2019 and the regional finals will be played on Oppo A9 2020 smartphone. While it’s not the best smartphone when it comes to playing PUBG Mobile, the Snapdragon 665 SoC holds up really well and the battery life of the smartphone would last long enough for intense gaming sessions. Earlier today, PUBG Mobile India officially confirmed the finals of India Tour would be held on October 19-20, where 20 teams will battle for the prize money.

As for the competitors of the Oppo A9 2020, it loses the battle to Realme XT, Realme X, Redmi Note 7 Pro and even the Mi A3 which is available at just Rs 12,990 in India. However, the Oppo A9 2020 is an offline-centered smartphone and the pricing is decent for an offline product, yet the product disappoints in some aspects- especially the HD+ IPS LCD display above Rs 15,000 is unacceptable in the segment.

The quad-camera setup, massive 5000mAh battery, and power-efficient Snapdragon 665 SoC are some plus points for the Oppo A9 2020. Will you purchase the phone after the Rs 1,000 price cut on the base variant? Let us know in the comments section below.
