The telco has interconnected key stations, including Howrah Maidan, Howrah Station, Mahakaran, and Esplanade, through a robust fiber network to ensure reliable and high-speed connectivity throughout the journey.
Going beyond conventional connectivity, Airtel’s deployment of high-capacity nodes not only guarantees optimal 4G connectivity but also lays the groundwork for a seamless 5G experience within the underwater metro. Ayan Sarkar, CEO of Bharti Airtel West Bengal and Odisha, emphasized the company’s commitment to pushing boundaries for enhanced customer service.
The under-river tunnel connectivity initiative promises commuters access to High-Definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, instant photo uploads, and more, transforming the mundane commute into a technologically enriched and enjoyable experience.
As the public eagerly awaits the impending launch of Kolkata’s underwater metro, Airtel’s strategic move positions it as the first operator to provide connectivity 35 meters below the River Hooghly. The company anticipates that other telecom operators will soon follow suit, ensuring reliable network services for all commuters in the underwater metro.
In parallel, Bharti Airtel is making significant progress towards its 5G rollout. The telecom giant aims to reduce 5G capex from FY25 onwards by almost half, showcasing its commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements and enhancing profitability.
