Airtel says that the price hike has been introduced to allow the company to run a financially healthy business model.

Airtel has increased the prices of its recharge plans. This includes calling as well as data plans. The company has increased about half a dozen data and calling plans including its cheapest recharge plan. Airtel’s new rates will be applicable across the country from November 26. The company has increased the pre-paid tariff plan by about 20 to 25 percent. In such a situation, the cheapest recharge plan of Airtel will come for Rs 99, which earlier used to come for Rs 79.

    Airtel

Bharti Airtel (“Airtel”) has always maintained that the mobile Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) needs to be at Rs 200 and ultimately at Rs 300, so as to provide a reasonable return on capital that allows for a financially healthy business model.

The telco also believes that this level of ARPU will enable the substantial investments required in networks and spectrum. Even more important, this will give Airtel the elbow room to roll out 5G in India.

Therefore, as a first step, Airtel is taking the lead in rebalancing its tariffs during the month of November. Accordingly, the new tariffs as indicated below will come into effect from November 26, 2021.

    Airtel

Airtel’s cheapest prepaid plan will come for Rs 99 instead of Rs 79. The maximum validity of 28 days will be available in this plan. Instead of Airtel’s Rs 149 plan, Rs 179 will have to be paid. Daily 2GB of data and unlimited calling are available in this plan. Instead of Airtel’s Rs 219 plan, Rs 265 will have to be paid. This plan will come with daily 1GB data and unlimited calling with a validity of 28 days.

In addition, the Rs. 598 prepaid pack will be priced at Rs. 719 and the combo plan comes with 84 days of validity and 1.5GB of daily data. Similarly, the Rs. 449 prepaid plan will be priced at Rs. 549, seeing an increase of Rs. 100. The Rs. 399 will now be priced at Rs. 479. This offers the same benefits as the Rs. 719 plan, but its validity is set for 56 days. As mentioned, the new tariffs will come into effect by November 26 on Airtel.in. All the changes in tariff can be seen in the table below:
