LinkedIn’s virtual event solution is present on the mobile and desktop of all users globally. Companies can improve their reach with the professional community by sharing events with their Page followers and by sending direct invites to their networks

Demand for live streaming is increasing in a nationwide lockdown. In this way, Microsoft-owned professional network LinkedIn released a new update on Wednesday. Under this, the company has announced to integrate the existing two features LinkedIn Live and LinkedIn Event. In such a situation, the virtual live event can now be hosted from the company page, and users will be able to connect directly to the event through live streaming and ask questions. The company’s virtual event solution is present on the mobile and desktop of all users globally. With this virtual event solution of the company, the online community of the professional world will be able to connect with each other in real-time.

    LinkedIn

According to the company data, the rate of watching live streaming videos is higher than other types of videos. Live videos on LinkedIn are commented at 23X more time, while on normal videos the rate is 6X. The company claims that it’s virtual event is quite secure and reliable.

Announcing the launch, Ajay Datta, Head of Product, India at LinkedIn, said,

As the business world moves from in-person conferences to virtual events, we recognise how important it is to equip our customers with tools to bring the professional community together — online, in real time, and at scale, in the safest way possible. Real-time interactions are at the heart of building relationships, and now more than ever before, these real-time interactions are critical to our customers. So we decided to accelerate our product roadmap to launch an integrated solution that helps bring the professional community together virtually, and strengthens relationships with targeted audiences.

The companies can create an online event on their pages and share it with the audience. The attendees will join the event when it starts and they will also be able to comment when it is going on. Additionally, the company says that organisations can keep the conversation going even after the event is over wit the Videos tab.

The company said that according to its data, 82 percent of audiences prefer watching live-streams from companies than regular social media posts. It also said that its parent Microsoft is already live-streaming its keynotes to its followers. The new feature is available to all members globally across all markets on desktop and mobile.

How to Host Virtual Events in LinkedIn

    • For a virtual event, the LinkedIn page will first need access and approval.
    • A page must have at least 1000 followers for approval on LinkedIn.
    • The same page receives live streaming approval from the company,
    • Those who engage with the community and respond to their comments.
    • The event is created after approval is received.
    LinkedIn

LinkedIn launched its events globally in October 2019, and in March 2020, the company facilitated users to create LinkedIn pages on their platform. Ajay Dutta, India head of product, Linkedin, said that at present, the world is preferring virtual events over personal conferencing. In such a situation, it is necessary for the professional community to have its own virtual platform, which is completely secure as well as equipped with customer-friendly tools. He said the company had made a better start to reach the target audience, which shares the event’s invite on First Degree Network.

Microsoft and Pegasystems are strong examples of companies holding virtual events to take their in-person engagements online. Both organisations live-streamed the keynotes of their respective CEOs to reach a broad base of customers, followers, and prospects. LinkedIn’s virtual events solution is available to all members globally across all markets on desktop and mobile.
