Jio Platforms reported stronger financial performance in the September 2026 quarter, supported by subscriber growth, higher average revenue per user (ARPU) and rising data consumption. Its net profit increased 13.7% year-on-year to Rs 8,389 crore, while revenue grew 11.3% to Rs 47,485 crore.
Reliance Industries announced its second-quarter FY27 results on October 30. The performance highlights the continued contribution of its digital services business, even as the group’s overall profit growth also benefited significantly from stronger refining and petrochemical margins.
For telecom customers and investors tracking India’s wireless market, the key numbers are Jio’s improving profitability, a subscriber base of more than 542 million and an ARPU increase to Rs 218.8.
Jio Platforms Q2 FY27 Results: Key Financial Highlights
Jio Platforms delivered growth across its major financial indicators during the quarter ended September 30, 2026.
| Financial metric | Q2 FY27 | Year-on-year change |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | Rs 47,485 crore | +11.3% |
| Revenue from operations | Rs 40,475 crore | +11.4% |
| EBITDA | Rs 21,879 crore | +16.6% |
| Net profit | Rs 8,389 crore | +13.7% |
The distinction between revenue and revenue from operations is important. Jio Platforms’ reported revenue includes its broader income base, while revenue from operations is a narrower measure of income from its operating activities.
The increase in EBITDA was faster than revenue growth, indicating improved operating profitability. Net profit also increased, although higher depreciation, amortisation and finance costs remained part of the company’s expense structure.
Jio Adds 9.1 Million Customers in September Quarter
Jio continued to expand its customer base during the September quarter.
The company’s total subscriber base reached 542.4 million at the end of September 2026, compared with 533.3 million in the previous quarter and 506.4 million a year earlier.
Jio added approximately 9.1 million net customers during the quarter, compared with 8.9 million in the June quarter.
Monthly churn remained stable at 1.6%, lower than the 1.9% reported in the year-ago quarter. A lower churn rate generally indicates that a smaller proportion of customers are leaving the network each month.
The subscriber expansion gives Jio a larger base from which to generate revenue through mobile connectivity, home broadband and digital services.
Jio ARPU Rises to Rs 218.8 Without a Tariff Increase
Jio’s average revenue per user increased to Rs 218.8 per month in Q2 FY27, compared with Rs 215.6 in the previous quarter and Rs 211.4 in the September 2025 quarter.

The increase is significant because it was achieved without a general mobile tariff hike during the comparison period.
Reliance attributed the improvement to a better subscriber mix and higher customer usage. Promotional schemes for fixed broadband customers partly offset these gains.
ARPU is an important metric for telecom operators because it measures the average monthly revenue generated per customer. Sustained improvement can support revenue growth even when the operator is not increasing headline recharge prices.
Jio 5G Subscriber Base Reaches 300 Million
Jio’s 5G expansion continued during the quarter, with its 5G subscriber base reaching 300 million.
The company also reported average monthly data consumption of 44.2GB per customer, up 14.2% from 38.7GB in the corresponding quarter last year.
Total data traffic increased 22.1% year-on-year to 71.3 billion GB.
These figures show that data consumption continues to rise as more customers use 5G services and consume video, social media, gaming and other data-heavy applications.
For Jio, higher usage also creates opportunities to improve customer monetisation through premium connectivity plans and digital services.
Jio’s Home Broadband Business Reaches 30 Million Connections
Jio’s fixed broadband business has become another important growth area.
The company reported a base of 30 million homes connected through its broadband offerings. Fixed wireless access accounts for more than half of this current base, according to the company’s presentation.
This is important for India’s broadband market because Jio can serve customers through both fibre connections and fixed wireless broadband.
Fibre remains important for customers seeking a wired connection, while 5G-based fixed wireless access can help extend broadband availability in locations where fibre deployment is more difficult or expensive.
The expansion of Jio’s home broadband base also creates opportunities to bundle connectivity with entertainment and other digital services.
Reliance’s Overall Profit Growth Was Not Driven by Jio Alone
Reliance Industries reported a 40.6% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to Rs 25,548 crore, according to its reported results.
However, it would be incorrect to attribute the entire increase to Jio.
The group’s refining and petrochemical businesses recorded a particularly strong quarter. Its oil-to-chemicals (O2C) segment reported EBITDA of Rs 25,203 crore, up 67.9% year-on-year, supported by stronger refining and petrochemical margins.
Digital services also contributed to the group’s performance. Reliance reported Digital Services EBITDA of Rs 22,223 crore, up 17.7%.
These figures refer to different reporting levels: Jio Platforms is a company-level reporting entity, while Digital Services is a segment within Reliance Industries’ consolidated reporting. They should not be treated as interchangeable financial figures.
The distinction matters because Reliance operates across energy, retail, digital services and other businesses. Its consolidated results reflect the performance of the entire group.
What Jio’s Q2 Results Mean for India’s Telecom Market
Jio’s September-quarter performance highlights three important trends in India’s telecom sector.
First, subscriber growth remains strong. Adding 9.1 million customers in a quarter gives Jio further scale in the mobile market.
Second, ARPU continues to improve through a better customer mix and increased usage. This is important for the industry’s profitability, particularly as operators continue investing in network capacity and 5G services.
Third, home broadband and digital services are becoming increasingly important to Jio’s growth strategy. A 30-million connected-home base gives the company a substantial platform for expanding fixed broadband and related services.
For consumers, the numbers do not automatically mean an immediate change in recharge prices. However, sustained increases in data consumption and demand for higher-value services could influence how operators structure their future plans.
Jio’s Q2 FY27 results therefore show that its growth story is no longer just about adding mobile subscribers. Improving monetisation, 5G usage and broadband expansion are increasingly important to its financial performance.
