Apple’s new smart-home display combines a 7-inch screen, Siri AI, FaceTime video calling and connected-home controls, with tabletop and wall-mounted versions available to pre-order in India.

Apple has introduced the HomeView, a new smart-home device designed to bring entertainment, video calling and home automation together in one place. Announced at the company’s “Welcome Home” event on 13 October, the device is priced at Rs 39,900 in India and is intended to serve as a shared household display that can personalise its interface for individual family members.

The HomeView combines features associated with a smart speaker and a touchscreen display. Users can play music, make FaceTime calls, view compatible security-camera feeds, manage reminders and control supported smart-home accessories using touch or voice commands.

Apple has opened pre-orders in India, while retail availability is scheduled to begin on 13 November 2026. The device is offered in tabletop and wall-mounted versions, giving users different options for placing it in kitchens, bedrooms, hallways or other shared spaces.

Apple HomeView Price in India and Availability

The Apple HomeView is priced at Rs 39,900 in India. The wall-mounted version also starts at Rs 39,900, although compatible mounting accessories are sold separately. Apple lists three mounting options from Schneider Home, including a USB-C wall connector starting at Rs 6,900, an AC-wired option starting at Rs 8,900 and a Power Mount PoE Wired option planned for early 2027 at Rs 14,900.

The standard HomeView is available in silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey. The wall-mounted model is offered in space grey and silver. Customers can pre-order the device through Apple’s India online store and the Apple Store app, with availability beginning on 13 November.

The price places HomeView in the premium smart-home category. Its appeal will depend on how much value buyers place on Apple ecosystem integration, personalised Siri features, video calling and a dedicated display for managing connected devices.

7-Inch Liquid Retina Display and Design

Apple HomeView features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display connected to a domed speaker base through a stainless-steel hinge. The hinge allows users to adjust the viewing angle when the device is placed on a table or countertop. The wall-mounted version uses a separate design for installation in spaces such as entryways and hallways.

The display supports True Tone and automatic brightness adjustment. Apple says brightness can reach 500 nits in brighter surroundings and drop to 0.3 nits in low-light conditions, making the device suitable for use at different times of the day.

The interface also adjusts the information shown according to how close a person is to the screen. At a distance, it can present simpler information that is easier to read from across a room; when a user approaches, it can display more detailed content and controls.

    Siri AI and Personalised Features

Siri AI is central to the HomeView experience. Apple says the device uses a more conversational version of Siri, with broader knowledge and awareness of on-screen content. Users can ask questions, discover music and interact with supported features through voice commands.

When paired with a compatible Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, HomeView can draw on personal context from apps such as Messages and Calendar to provide more relevant responses and help users take actions across supported apps. Apple says conversations can also continue through the Siri app on compatible Apple devices.

HomeView can recognise up to six people by their faces and provide a personalised home screen with individual apps and widgets. Personal information, such as messages and calendar content, is designed to remain separate between users, while shared photos and music can be accessed by the household.

Siri AI is available in English in India and several other markets at launch. Apple’s announced availability does not mean every Siri feature or language is supported in every region, so buyers should check the company’s current software and compatibility requirements.

    FaceTime, Center Stage and Entertainment

The device includes a 12MP ultra-wide camera with Center Stage support for FaceTime. The feature uses camera and software capabilities to keep participants framed during video calls as they move around the room.

HomeView also supports messaging, Intercom announcements between compatible Apple devices and speakers, and recipe guidance with hands-free timer controls. Users can access Apple Music, Apple Podcasts and supported audio and video apps, while Handoff allows compatible activities to continue between HomeView and an iPhone.

Apple has designed the device around household use rather than as a conventional tablet. It combines a screen and speaker with always-available smart-home controls, so users can check information, make calls or manage devices without needing to pick up their phone each time.

Smart-Home Controls and Security Camera Support

HomeView is designed to work as a central dashboard for compatible smart-home accessories. Users can control lights, adjust supported thermostats, lock doors, close blinds and view camera feeds through touch or Siri AI. Apple says the Home Camera interface can display up to nine video feeds simultaneously.

With a supported iCloud+ subscription and compatible cameras, HomeView can also use HomeKit Secure Video features for notifications and recognition of people, familiar faces, pets, packages and vehicles. Apple says video descriptions can help users understand activity in recorded footage without watching every clip.

The device can also detect the sound of smoke or carbon monoxide alarms and send alerts to compatible iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch devices. These features depend on supported hardware, configuration and subscription requirements; HomeView should not be treated as a replacement for dedicated safety equipment.

What Apple HomeView Means for the Smart-Home Market

HomeView expands Apple’s smart-home strategy beyond speakers and television devices by adding a dedicated screen for household interactions. It also gives Apple another way to extend Siri AI into everyday routines, from checking schedules and making calls to controlling connected accessories.

Its premium price may make it most attractive to households that already use Apple devices and compatible smart-home products. Buyers with mixed-device setups should check accessory compatibility and supported services before purchasing, particularly if they expect the display to replace a general-purpose tablet or provide unrestricted access to streaming apps.

The device’s success will depend on how reliably its personalisation, voice controls and smart-home integrations work in daily use. For now, HomeView represents Apple’s attempt to make a shared household display a central point for communication, entertainment and connected-home management.
