6.9-Inch Display With 120Hz Refresh Rate
The Redmi 17C 5G features a large 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The higher refresh rate is designed to make scrolling, animations and supported games appear smoother than on conventional 60Hz panels.
The display has a resolution of 720 x 1,600 pixels and supports up to 240Hz touch sampling. Xiaomi has also added eye-care certifications from TÜV Rheinland.
Another useful addition is Wet Touch Technology, which is designed to keep the touchscreen responsive when the user’s fingers are damp.
MediaTek Dimensity 6300 Powers the Phone
The Redmi 17C 5G is powered by the 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset.
The octa-core processor has a peak clock speed of up to 2.4GHz and is paired with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. The Indian model comes with up to 6GB of physical RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
Xiaomi also supports memory extension, allowing part of the phone’s internal storage to be used as virtual RAM. Storage can be expanded further using a microSD card.
6,000mAh Battery With 33W Charging
Battery life is one of the main highlights of the Redmi 17C 5G.
The phone packs a 6,000mAh battery and supports up to 33W fast charging. Xiaomi’s official specifications list support for 33W charging, while the India package includes a charger.
The large battery should make the phone particularly relevant for users who spend significant time streaming videos, browsing social media, using 5G data or playing games.
50MP Rear Camera
For photography, the Redmi 17C 5G has a 50-megapixel primary rear camera.
The camera supports features including HDR, Portrait mode, Night mode and time-lapse recording. It can record video at up to 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second.
On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
HyperOS 3 Based on Android 16
The Redmi 17C 5G runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
The software brings Xiaomi’s current interface and a range of system-level features, while Google Gemini and other AI capabilities are available as part of the Android and Xiaomi software ecosystem.
The exact availability of individual AI features can depend on the software version and region.
IP64 Rating and Other Features
The smartphone carries an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance. This provides protection against dust ingress and water splashes under controlled testing conditions, but it does not make the phone waterproof or suitable for underwater use.
Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual-SIM support, 5G connectivity, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, USB Type-C and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Redmi 17C 5G: What You Get
At Rs 20,999, the Redmi 17C 5G brings together a large 120Hz display, 5G connectivity, a 6,000mAh battery and the Dimensity 6300 chipset.
The phone’s large screen and battery are likely to be its biggest attractions for consumers looking for an affordable device for entertainment and everyday use. The 50MP camera, expandable storage and IP64 rating add to its feature set.
However, the HD+ resolution means buyers should not expect the same display sharpness as smartphones in this price range that offer Full HD+ panels.
With its October 7 sale date, the Redmi 17C 5G will enter India’s festive-season smartphone market alongside several competing budget and mid-range 5G models.
