Motorola Edge 60 Fusion users in India have started receiving the Android 17 update through OTA, with firmware A171VCH.41-9 weighing around 5.2GB. The rollout appears to be limited initially, while Motorola’s official documentation confirms several new Android 17 features for the device.
Android 17 Update Reaches Edge 60 Fusion in India
The Motorola Edge 60 Fusion has started receiving Android 17 in India, according to multiple reports based on an OTA notification received by an owner. The update carries firmware version A171VCH.41-9 and has a download size of approximately 5.2GB.
The initial rollout appears to be limited rather than a simultaneous release to all Edge 60 Fusion owners. One reported user said only one of their two Edge 60 Fusion phones had received the update, which is consistent with a staged OTA deployment.
Motorola’s India support page currently lists the Edge 60 Fusion as eligible for Android 17, although it does not itself announce the September 25 rollout.
5.2GB Update Adds Stackable Widgets and Quick Drop
Motorola’s official Android 17 documentation for the Edge 60 Fusion confirms several changes coming with the upgrade.
One of the most visible additions is stackable home-screen widgets. Users can combine multiple widgets into a single block and swipe through them instead of placing each widget separately across the home screen.
The update also adds Quick Drop under Connected devices. Motorola describes it as a way to send photos or files to a reusable group of recipients, while Tap to Share allows file sharing with another phone by bringing the devices together.
Other changes include themed icons, the option to hide labels under Quick Settings tiles, live notification updates, notification summaries and automatic organisation of lower-priority notifications into quiet folders.
Android 17 Also Brings HDR and System Improvements
Motorola has added an Enhanced HDR brightness control that lets users limit the brightness applied when viewing HDR content. The company also lists security, app compatibility, performance and stability improvements as part of the Android 17 upgrade.
These changes are part of Motorola’s Android 17 implementation rather than features exclusive to the Edge 60 Fusion hardware.
Motorola has not confirmed that its newer Qira AI assistant is included in the A171VCH.41-9 build. Reports covering the rollout have also noted that its availability remains unclear, so Edge 60 Fusion owners should not assume Qira is included with this update.
Owners Should Keep 7GB to 8GB Free
The Android 17 package itself is approximately 5.2GB, making it considerably larger than a routine security update. Reports recommend having around 7GB to 8GB of free internal storage before starting the installation to allow room for the downloaded package and installation process.
A stable Wi-Fi connection is also advisable, particularly for users with limited mobile data. Owners should back up important data and keep sufficient battery charge available before beginning a major operating system upgrade.
There are no reliable reports yet establishing a widespread battery-drain or major-bug problem with this specific Edge 60 Fusion build. Since the rollout is still at an early stage, longer-term feedback on battery life, app compatibility and stability will become clearer as more Indian users install it.
Android 17 Rollout Is Still Limited
The current evidence points to an initial Indian rollout rather than universal availability. GSMArena and YtechB both reported the update after users began sharing OTA evidence, while Motorola has not published a specific public rollout timetable for this build.
Edge 60 Fusion owners can check for the update from the phone’s software-update settings. Not seeing the notification immediately does not necessarily indicate a problem, because major OTA releases can be distributed in batches.
Motorola has already listed the Edge 60 Fusion among the devices receiving Android 17, and the first reported stable build now indicates that the upgrade process has begun for Indian users.
