The DoT official emphasized the need for setting up this index as various issues such as Right of Way (RoW) and digital infrastructure fall under the jurisdiction of state governments. Thus, the participation of all states is crucial in promoting digital infrastructure.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has taken a revolutionary step towards improved governance by announcing its plans to track state performance using the Digital Communication Regulatory Index (DCRI). The move is aimed at enhancing the overall telecom infrastructure in the country by evaluating the quality of services offered by the states.

The DCRI is a comprehensive index that measures the performance of the telecom sector in terms of availability, accessibility, affordability, and quality of service. It is designed to provide a holistic assessment of the digital communication ecosystem in a state and identify the areas that require improvement.

Under this initiative, the DoT will evaluate the performance of each state and union territory and assign them a ranking based on their DCRI scores. The rankings will be updated on a regular basis to ensure that the states are making progress toward improving their telecom infrastructure.

The DCRI will provide a platform for states to compare their performance with other states and identify the areas that require improvement. This will encourage healthy competition among the states and motivate them to improve their telecom infrastructure to provide better services to their citizens.

The DoT believes that this initiative will not only improve the telecom infrastructure but also promote digital inclusion and enable the country to achieve its goal of a digital India. The government has been actively working towards enhancing the digital infrastructure of the country and has taken several measures to promote digital inclusion.

This initiative is a step towards achieving this goal and will ensure that the citizens of the country have access to high-quality telecom services. The DoT has also urged the states to collaborate with telecom service providers to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is in place to provide uninterrupted services to the citizens.

In conclusion, the DoT’s decision to track state performance using DCRI is a significant step towards improved governance and digital inclusion. This initiative will encourage healthy competition among the states and motivate them to improve their telecom infrastructure to provide better services to their citizens.
