Reliance Jio has signed a deal with Bharti Airtel regarding the sale of spectrum. After this deal, Jio will get permission to use Airtel’s network.
The constant conflict between the telecom company Airtel and Reliance Jio continues. But this time Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio Infocomm have signed a deal sitting among themselves. In which an agreement has been signed regarding the right to use of 800MHz spectrum. Simply put, Jio has entered into a spectrum sale deal with Airtel.
After which Jio has got permission to use Airtel’s network. After this deal, Jio will use Airtel’s 800MHz spectrum in three circles of the country. For this, Jio has given about Rs 1,005 crore to Airtel. In the coming days, Jio will have to pay Rs 469.3 crore for spectrum usage.
Deal between Jio and Airtel
Having said this, Airtel had signed a trading deal with Jio in April this year, under which Jio acquired the rights to use Airtel’s 800MHz spectrum in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi and Mumbai. However, now the Sunil Bharti Mittal-led telecom company said that it has sold 3.75 MHz of bandwidth in Andhra Pradesh, 1.25 MHz in Delhi and 2.50 MHz in Mumbai.
Reliance Jio holding 800Mhz Spectrum in 22 Circles
Bharti Airtel acquired the Tata Teleservices business in 2019, when the company acquired 800Mhz spectrum in Andhra Pradesh (3.75MHz), Delhi (1.25MHz) and Mumbai (2.5MHz). But Airtel has not been able to use this network since then, as it is not useful compared to 5GHz. In such a situation, Airtel did not have the advantage of keeping this expensive spectrum. The validity of this spectrum is 14 years. In such a situation, Airtel has sold it to Jio. After this deal, Jio will be the only network, which will use 800 Mhz in 22 circles.
