Telecom company Airtel has today announced a partnership with American chipmaker company Intel. In the case of 5G, it is considered to be Airtel’s big bet, because, before Airtel, Jio announced itel’s partnership. Intel’s investment arm Intel Capital had bought a 0.39 percent stake in Jio Platforms’ equity skate with an investment of Rs 1,894.50 crore in the year 2020. On the same lines, Airtel has partnered with Intel.
Airtel 5G Trial
Airtel does not want to lag behind Jio in terms of 5G network. Airtel’s new partnership with Intel will help develop 5G networks with the help of vRAN / O-RAN technology. Airtel’s partnership with intel will help Airtel build a 5G roadmap in India. Airtel is the first telecom operator in India, which gave a line demo of 5G on the line network and achieved a strong speed of 1Gbps during this period. Airtel is trialing 5G in many cities. Airtel company has supported Intel’s third-generation Xeon Scalable processor. The Airtel partnership will use Intel’s new 3rd gen Xeon scalable processors, FPGAs and eASICs, and the Ethernet 800 series.
Telecom operator Bharti Airtel has held the record of achieving the fastest 5G speed during the 5G trial. Airtel has achieved the fastest speed of 1000 Gigabits per second so far during the 5G trial. The company did a live trial of 5G trial at Phoenix Mall located in the Lower Parel area of Mumbai. Also, Airtel has tried 5G in many other cities.
The Sunil Mittal-led telco is also conducting 5G trials in major cities such as Gurgaon’s Cyber Hub in the Millennium city and in Mumbai’s Phoenix Mall in Lower Parel, in partnership with Swedish Ericsson and Finland’s Nokia, respectively.
Airtel also entered into a partnership with Tata Sons and Tata Consultancy Services to deploy OpenRAN 5G solutions, including radio and core. It plans to begin a pilot in January 2022. Jio, on the other hand, has developed and tested its homegrown 5G solutions together with its partners in India and plans to export the solutions to global markets once proven at a pan-India scale.
