Vodafone Idea has told the TRAI that it is dropping the contentious faster data speed claim as part of priority offering and is in the process of filing a revised plan, a source said.

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has currently discontinued its fast internet data priority plan. Vodafone-Idea was accused by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) of missing customers through a fast internet data plan. At the same time, issuing notice, in this case, was directed to file a reply. After the strictness of TRAI, Vodafone-Idea has now dropped this plan.

    Removed plan from website

The company website has also removed the claim of a priority plan that provided additional money for fast internet speed, which was under the supervision of TRAI for the past few weeks. TRAI has also been informed about this matter on behalf of the company. However, Vodafone Idea declined to comment officially on this matter.

Notably, recently, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued a notice to the telecom company Vodafone Idea. TRAI has issued a notice to vodafone idea due to violation in the regulatory rules, why should not its RedX tariff plan be discontinued. According to TRAI, the company’s claim to provide fast 4G network on priority basis for faster data to customers is against the regulatory framework.

It then slapped a show-cause notice on VIL over its priority mobile plan, saying that the tariff offer “lacks transparency”, is “misleading” and not in compliance with the regulatory framework. “The RedX tariff offer lacks transparency and is misleading and not in compliance with regulatory principles of tariff assessment contained under Telecom Tariff Order, 1999, as amended from time to time,” TRAI said in the show-cause notice.

    Bharti Airtel was also accused

Airtel had to discontinue its popular plan in a similar case before Vodafone Idea. In Trai’s investigation, Vodafone Idea’s RedX tariff plan, as well as Bharti Airtel’s Platinum offer, was against the rules. Thereafter, Bharti Airtel announced an amendment to its platinum offer. Bharti Airtel was not issued a show-cause notice for its platinum plan, which was also under the regulator’s lens. Airtel had offered to abide by TRAI’s views and had also withdrawn its platinum offering, and, hence, TRAI did not proceed with further investigation on it.
